Beginning his career, from 2011 to 2012, Durk released his debut, un-official mixtape, Iβm a Hitta which was released on August 26, 2011. On April 3, 2012, Durk released his sophomore mixtape, a sequel to his previous tape, Iβm Still a Hitta. Durka later released his third mixtape on November 5, 2012, titled Life Ainβt No Joke
Like many drill artists, Durkβs early career was plagued with legal issues and accusations of violence. These issues eventually led to his shows being canceled.
From 2013 to 2015 Durk released a total of four projects, three mixtapes, and an album. October 10, 2013, marked the release of the first Signed to the Streets, one of Durkβs most notable mixtapes and the start of a series. In the summer of 2014, specifically July 4, Durk released a sequel to Signed to the Streets and released Signed to the Streets 2 featuring his βWhat You Do to Meβ.
2015 would be an enormous year for Lil Durk as in July 2015, Durk released his debut studio album, Remember My Name which featured his Jeremih-assisted βLike Me.β Later that year, Durk released his sixth mixtape 300 Days 300 Nights which included his then-girlfriend, Dej Loaf-assisted, βMy BeyoncΓ©.β
From 2016 to 2017, Durk released a total of four solo projects and one collaborative project. On July 22, 2016, Durk released his sophomore studio album, Lil Durk 2X accompanied by features such as Future, Young Thug, Yo Gotti and more. Ending the year, Durk released They Forgot, his seventh mixtape.
Beginning 2017, in February, Durk released his seventh mixtape, Love Songs for the Streets, which is deemed as one of his most notable projects including features from Moneybagg Yo and YFN Lucci. Later that year in August, Durk released a collaborative EP with Lil Reese titled Supa Vultures; the project included his βNobody Knowsβ. On October 19, 2017, Durk carried on with his Signed to the Streets series with the highly anticipated Signed to the Streets 2.5. The mixtape included the start of yet another song series titled βIndiaβ dedicated to his fiancΓ© India Cox otherwise known as India Royale.
In 2018, Durk released two projects, he began with Just Cause Y'all Waited, Durkβs highest-charting mixtape peaking at #57 on the Billboard 200. Durk then released a sequel to Love Songs for the Streets titled Love Songs 4 the Streets 2. Durk was extremely successful prior to this album, however, many say that this exact album broke Durk into the mainstream rap industry as it had been his first project to chart in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
2020 was an even better year for Lil Durk as he released his almost chart-topping Just Cause Yβall Waited 2 which peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. It was later followed up with a deluxe.
The scars of violence run deep in Durkβs discography, particularly arising from the loss of OTF members Nunu (Nuski) and King Von at the hands of gunfire. Both artists are commemorated on his album The Voice, for which a deluxe version was released in 2021.
Anointing himself as the voice of the streets, Durk followed up this project with the release of the collaborative album The Voice of the Heroes with Lil Baby which brought the Chicago native artist his first #1 album.
Marking his first solo #1 album, in March 2022, Lil Durk released a melodramatic take on the deaths of his loved ones through an album titled 7220. The album became Durkβs first solo project to top the charts.

Know what I'm saying? What he going through with his bitch
Know what I'm saying? He actually one of my dogs
Know what I'm saying, so, here you go
We ain't talk in a minute, so don't hit me up
And I mix my feelings with prescription drugs
When I fell to my knees, you ain't pick me up
And we ain't gon' talk about no sex 'cause you ain't get it up
And I don't want you to suck my dick 'cause you ain't spit enough
You an ungrateful lil' bitch, said I ain't spend enough
You told me you want your ass shots 'cause you ain't thick enough
I'm in the trenches with the sharks, I ain't have a heart
Some nights I ain't wanna talk, I left you in the dark
You was lurkin' on my page, you became a narc
You was writing bitches back, that shit went too far
And I carried you on my back like I ain't have a car
You was kinda mad I hang with murderers
Bitch, you Instagram famous, but you not a star
Instagram famous, but you not a star
Bitch, I made you, took you out the hood and I saved you
While them other niggas tried to play you
Bitch you ungrateful, bitch you ungrateful, bitch you un-
I ain't want a label, I ain't want a label
I ain't tryna be your friend, or your man, or your husband
I don't want a label
You steady throwin' your pussy, but I don't want none
I got a wife, so after me you gotta fuck Von
Then Ikey, then Booka, then it's more fun
I kick her out slick as hell, tell her, "Store run"
I know a couple divas, they still a secret
The bitches I made eat it, you would not believe it
This shit was never easy, I move strategic
Me and two, three singers, we had a threesome
Back to back, fuckin' back to back, off the Perky
Back to back, told her all them lies, I was perfect
Always tryna run the streets deep, I was thirsty
Gotta watch my back, a lot of niggas tryna hurt me
That's why I keep my .50 and my .30
Niggas ain't on shit, they washed up, detergent
Big Backwood', sat back and burned it
I'm better, hot like a furnace, yeah
Bitch, I made you, took you out the hood and I saved you
While them other niggas tried to play you
Bitch you ungrateful, bitch you ungrateful, bitch you un-
I ain't want a label, I ain't want a label
I ain't tryna be your friend, or your man, or your husband
I don't want a label
The opening lyrics to Lil Durkβs song βNo Labelβ reveal that he wrote the song based on another personβs experience with his significant other. Durk explicitly states that the inspiration behind this track came from one of his friends, and itβs clear that the song is a reflection on this friendβs failed relationship. Throughout the verses, Durk reflects on the emotions that his friend must have been feeling β being rejected by his girlfriend, feeling unappreciated, and struggling with trust issues. Durkβs lyrics in this song are raw and honest, capturing the pain and anger that comes with a failed relationship. Through these lyrics, Durk seeks to give voice to his friendβs experiences while also analyzing his own romantic relationships.
The chorus of the song, repeated multiple times, reiterates Durkβs reluctance to be labeled or tied down in any sort of romantic relationship. He is critical of the woman in his life who seeks to define their relationship, and throughout the song, he goes on to detail the various ways in which he keeps himself detached from these relationships. The verses themselves, then, are primarily focused on the negative aspects of relationships, with Durkβs lyrics detailing jealousy, distrust, and complicated romantic dynamics. Ultimately, Lil Durkβs βNo Labelβ is a song about the difficulties of romantic relationships and the complexities of trying to navigate these experiences.
