Bones of Ribbon
London Grammar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Bones of ribbon don't stop me now
Whites went blue, then went yellow
Feet don't stop me now
They found me there in the sands
Bones of ribbon in my hands
Whites went blue, then went yellow
Pull off the cloak, time off the wall
Take determination
Take whatever you need
'Cause your body's made of metal
And your skin, it isn't real
Found me there in the sands
Bones of ribbon in my hands
Whites went blue, then went yellow
Please don't stop me now
Take determination
Take whatever you need
'Cause your body's made of metal
And your skin, it isn't real
They found me there in the sands
Bones of ribbon in my hand
Whites went blue, and then went yellow
And your feet don't stop me now
Feet don't stop me now
Well you know when you know, hey
Oh no, do you know it enough, hey
You won't know till you know it enough
You won't know till you know you know it enough
Feet don't stop me now
Feet don't stop me now
The lyrics of "Bones Of Ribbon" by London Grammar seem to be about the power of determination and perseverance in the face of obstacles. The opening lines, "Take my efforts high above red hues, Bones of ribbon don't stop me now" suggests that the singer is determined to push through despite any difficulties they may encounter. The repetition of "Whites went blue, then went yellow" might represent a shifting of emotions or states of being, as they push through the challenges before them. The singer has a sense of urgency, as they repeat "Feet don't stop me now," encouraging themselves to keep moving forward.
The second verse reinforces the message of perseverance, encouraging the listener to "Take determination" and whatever else they need to succeed. The line "Cause your body's made of metal and your skin, it isn't real" suggests that the singer must rely on their inner strength rather than physical attributes alone. The repetition of "They found me there in the sands, Bones of ribbon in my hands" furthers the sense of determination and perhaps even defiance, as the singer is actively holding onto the symbolic "bones of ribbon" despite any challenges they may face.
Overall, the lyrics of "Bones of Ribbon" encourage the listener to push through life's challenges, to maintain a sense of determination and to hold onto the symbolic "bones of ribbon" that will lead them to success.
