Til You're Home
Rita Wilson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sun through the shadows
Light through the door
Voice like an echo
I can′t hear anymore

So I follow your steps
While the love that you left is burned in my heart
With dreams in my mind
Of the next time that I have you in my arms

'Cause I will tell you the whole truth
That there′s no color in the world without you
And I finally see how your love is the best of me
Yeah, there's so much I want you to know
Guess I'll wait ′til you′re home
Hmm, mm-mm
Hmm, hmm, mm-mm

The way that you smile
When you think you're alone
The best gift of this life
Is to see you up close

Now and again, in the palm of my hand
I feel your touch
So I write it all down in these moments I′ve found
'Til I see you, my love

And I will tell you the whole truth
That there′s no color in the world without you
And I finally see how your love is the best of me
Yeah, there's so much I want you to know
Yeah, there′s so much I want you to know

Guess I'll wait 'til you′re home
Hmm, mm-mm

0:02 Hey, I know that guy! Pretty good actor!!
0:04 This is me meeting Sebastián Yatra for the first time when he came into to record his vocals. I love his voice so much!
0:18 That’s my son, Truman. The director asked him to play the part of Young Otto because he said that younger versions of characters in movies never look like the person they’re supposed to be playing. It took some convincing but he agreed.
0:45 Matt Rollings, my co-producer, played on my first album, AM/FM, in 2011, and we have been friends since.
0:56 Mariana Trevino and Manuel Garcia Rulfo added so much to our cast.
1:19 Dave Levita, guitar player extraordinaire, and Matt were roommates when they were kids!
1:25 This modulation lifts the song and gives it another kind of momentum and emotion.
1:26 Victor Indrizzo, drummer, has played with everyone from Chris Cornell, to Alanis Morrisette, Liz Phair, Aimee Mann
1:31 Our production designer, Barbara Ling, won an Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and completely remodeled the bakery we filmed in to restore it to how it was originally, even putting back up the original sign.
1:48 Sebastián brings so much emotion to his performance.
2:05 I love the harmonies here.
2:15 If you look closely you will see that the little girls drew a picture of Otto but in the background they also drew their father falling off the ladder which is part of the story. I think it is really funny because it’s so subtle.
2:41 Sméagol, the cat, was so sweet!! He was almost funny!! I love how he pokes his head out of the box.
2:46 Sean Hurley, bass player, has played with John Mayer and Gwen Stefani and also on all of my album, Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets
2:53 Couldn’t have made this movie without Tom’s outstanding performance.

As an old man, with many health problems, I know my time is short. This movie has inspired me, and helped me to know, that there is still much good I can do in the time I have left. This movie was wonderful, and this song is heart-touching, and heart-breaking at the same time.
