The Scream was a scorching hard rock outfit, which came off as a cross between Aerosmith and Cinderella.
Vocalist/guitarist John Corabi had moved from Philadelphia to Los Angeles with his blues-based band Angora in search of fame and fortune. When Angora disbanded (with half the band forming Graveyard Train) Corabi hooked up with alumni Bruce Bouillet (guitar), John Alderete (bass) and Scott Travis (drums), all former members of the highly acclaimed technical metal band Racer X. Travis quickly left to join Judas Priest and one-time Shark Island drummer Walt Woodward III stepped behind the kit.
The group quickly signed to Hollywood records and released a critically acclaimed album that was produced by the legendary Eddie Kramer. Their brand of commercial hard rock was destined for success, however after touring behind the album for a year Corabi got an offer he couldn't refuse. He left The Scream to replace Vince Neil in the sleaze legends Motley Crue. The remaining members recruited vocalist Billy Fogarty and began work on the follow-up album.
Takin' It To The Next Level was recorded in 1993, but was never released due to a shuffle within the record label. The group soon broke up with everyone but Woodward forming the short lived DC-10.

The Scream Lyrics

I guess its time as the sun shines through the dawn
Another night is gone
Seems like days since I saw her face
In her place no trace of yesterday
Yeah but that's okay
If she never comes back it'll be too soon
I'm doin' just fine just me
Well all in all it ain't a bad change
I like it alone 'cause no one ever complains
I don't confuse the names
I heard about love is blind
Well I found lying times and true deceit
The way she uses me
The air so think it feels like June
I'm doin' fine just me
And the man in the moon
If she never comes back, it'll be too soon
I'm singin' my song to the man in the moon
Once in a while you can catch me smile
With time to burn I turn the music on
I play my favorite song
All in all it ain't a bad change
I like it alone 'cause no one ever complains
I don't confuse the names
I remember her face when I hear that tune
I'm doin' fine just me
And the man in the moon
The lyrics to The Scream's song Man in the Moon are about a man who has waved goodbye to a friend and feels like it's time to move on. The man is content being alone with just himself and the man in the moon. The lyrics suggest that the man has recently gone through a difficult time in a relationship and is now enjoying his solitude. He has found that being alone is preferable to being with someone who uses and deceives him. The man is now able to appreciate the small things in life such as playing his favorite song and enjoying his own company. The lyrics suggest that he is now happy and content with his life and doesn't need anyone else to complete him.

I love this song and drummer Walt Woodward has to have been the most screwed over person in rock in the '80s. Drummer for Shark Island, fired when they got their bad record deal, joined this band, it disintegrated when Corabi joined Motley Crue . . . a man so talented that never got heard by a large audience. Died of alcohol poisoning. He was a friend of mine via my band being friends with Shark Island. He was truly gifted and I will ALWAYS remember him, his skills, and his sense of humor.

Johnny Worm Didn’t even realize Corabi was their lead singer until I looked at this comment. Had downloaded several songs from them off Spotify a couple years ago! Makes sense why they sound great. Corabi’s incredibly talented.
