Genius Annotation

“Positif” is a French electro song about the dangers of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The title “Positif” is French for “Positive,” referring to one being “HIV Positive”.

The main hook of the track, a French text-to-speech woman telling this group that “You’re all animals”, is repeated through out the song as well as variants on the main hook such as “You will die” and “Stop reproducing”.

The track also features a break from the main synth melody with a cut up sample of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. It’s significant to note that Queen’s lead singer/songwriter died from AIDS himself, which is likely what led Mr. Oizo to sample this for “Positif.”

This track has become a staple in Mr Oizo’s live performances, being one of his most catchy dance tunes.
