Belladonna is used to describe a beautiful lady, but also may refer to the belladonna plant. This plant was used by women in Renaissance Italy to enlarge their pupils. While this may of seemed a good idea, it contains a poisonous chemical which could lead to blurred vision, red skin, fevers and a fast heartbeat.
