Da Vinci Riot Police Lyrics

[Intro]
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)

[Verse 1]
Country boys and city girls
Travelling to a foreign world, world
Oh, Da Vinci riot police
Cold War preacher on your street alone, alone

[Pre-Chorus]
It started when your mother was young
In every song your father sung
You take it and you make it your own

[Chorus]
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on

[Post-Chorus]
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
[Verse 2]
Call your friends and pack your bags
To the brim, now we're nomads, mad
European sonic boom, electric chapel
Book a room, a room

[Pre-Chorus]
It started when your mother was young
With every song your father sung
You take it and you make it your own

[Chorus]
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on

[Post-Chorus]
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)

[Pre-Chorus]
It started when your mother was young
With every song your father sung
You take it and you make it your own
[Chorus]
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on

Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on
Many other roads yet to run
So bind your heart in, back with love
Carry on, carry on

[Post-Chorus]
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)

About

Genius Annotation

“Da Vinci Riot Police” was inspired by Ezra’s trip to Milan, where he found himself behind a music hall, and by a statue of Leonardo Da Vinci- a famous artist and mathematician, amongst other things.

Ezra himself recalls: “I stood and looked up at the man, then, around the corner, came a big march with lots of flares and shouting. The police were on their backs and it all kicked off. Da Vinci looked after me for a bit.”

The song is referenced in the album artwork for “Wanted on Voyage”. Ezra says, “My dad’s wearing a police outfit, which references that song [Da Vinci Riot Police]. The people on the cover are my little brother, sister, friends, people from school, and even the first manager at the pub I worked in.”
