BasicBitchTearGas Lyrics

[Intro]
I know, I know, I know, I know (Hahaha)
Shit is just, fuck it (Yeah)
(Long Island shit) Let's do it

[Verse 1]
A scrub is a guy who thinks he's fly
And also known as a buster (Yeah)
Always talkin' 'bout what he wants
And just sits on his broke ass, so

[Chorus]
No (Whoa), I don't want your number
No (Oh), I don't wanna give you mine and
No (Yeah), I don't wanna meet you nowhere
No, I don't wanna none of that, baby

[Verse 2]
A scrub checkin' me and his game is kinda weak
And I know that he cannot approach me
I'm lookin' like class, and he's lookin' like trash
Can't get wit' a deadbeat ass, so

[Outro]
I don't want no scrub
Scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me
It ain't hard to see, he

Genius Annotation

“BasicBitchTearGas” is a cover of “No Scrubs” by TLC. The track continues the themes seen on this record of Peggy speaking from the perspective of a woman, as seen on “Thot Tactics” and “Jesus Forgive Me, I am a Thot.”

In the “Disappointed” teaser video with producer DJ Dahi, Peggy had said that one track on the album would be a cover, and that he had renamed the song’s file in Japanese as to disguise the file’s real name to anyone who might see it.

Interestingly enough, the title of the track changes on both the Bandcamp listing of the album and on the physical track listing of the record. On the Bandcamp listing, it is titled “BabyBitchTearGas,” while on the vinyl’s liner notes, it is titled “BabyBeamerBoy.”

Genius Answer

When speaking to Apple Music about the track, Peggy had this to say:

I always told myself that one day I’d do a cover of “No Scrubs” and I just wanted to make that a reality. Bucket list-type shit. I love this song, man. It’s one of the best songs ever written. And I really like re-contextualizing songs that mean a lot to people, like pop music, because it exposes the reality of these songs. That these songs are EXCELLENT—regardless of how popular they are and regardless of the narrative that’s been built around some of these songs, these are excellently-written, beautiful songs, and I wanna take time to appreciate them.
