[Verse]
Everyone hates me, but nobody knows me
Where did the time go, could somebody show me?

Get in and ride slow, you know where I'm going
Back of the club, girl, your feelings are showing
How can I not stare, the way that you're glowing?
I am a nightmare, you don't wanna know me
Running my fingers through your hair makes me remember everything
Why don't you hate me?

[Chorus]
I'll be the first there
And I'll be the last there
I'm not gonna last here
I'm not gonna last long
I will be right here
I'll buy you a flight here
I'll give you a night here
We gotta move on

Why don't you hate me?

[Outro]
I'll be the first there
And I'll be the last there
I'm not gonna last here
I'm not gonna last long
I'll be the first there
And I'll be the last there
I'm not gonna last here
I'm not gonna last long

About

Genius Annotation

“Fingers” is the 11th track on Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2.
It centres around Lil Peep’s obsession with a girl he has a past with. He loves her still, but knows he did wrong. He will do anything he can for them to have the same love they once had.

What have the artists said about the song?
Genius Answer

In an interview for Alternative Press magazine, Smokeasac recounts the story behind the creation of the song and the various modifications that were made posthumously.

He [Peep] worked on the original version of the track with producer Rob Cavallo (who also worked on “Benz Truck”), but after recording his part, Peep told, “All right, the song is sick, but I need you to reproduce the beat, it’s too boring for me.” That’s the first time in our relationship that I had ever heard him say that he wasn’t happy with the production, I always think that’s crazy ‘cause he had never said that to me ever, ever.

Peep was very specific about wanting “Fingers” to be more grungy with a punk inspired guitar melody that had beautiful sound. I really put a lot of work trying to make sure that it was something that he would have fucked with since he wasn’t too happy with the demo version.

Who is this song about?
Genius Answer

Like most of songs, “Fingers” is about Peep’s life-long friend, first love and on-off-ex-girlfriend Emma Harris.
He met her at school in third grade when they were 8 years old.

At the memorial to celebrate his life, Emma made a speech and said:

By fifth grade, I was in love with him. We were so young. He was just so cool from the start. … High school came and we went back and forth breaking each others heart, we’d date for a month and hate each other for two, but he was always there, and he always reassured me how much he loved me. Even if he was pissed at me, even in the hardest times when I thought no-one was there, he was. … I was glued to him. I hated working, I didn’t wanna be away from him. Which was pretty strange because we did absolutely nothing but sit in his room everyday.
