Aerostar Lyrics

[Verse 1]
A forest fire from some careless spark
Weren't we embers burning in your mama's car?
The window warnings, your body carved
A clear horizon in that aerostar

[Pre-Chorus]
For a moment, we were weightless, takin' off our masks
There were angels in the canyons, but the fire moved too fast
For a second, we were infinite, but I mistook the glow
Suddenly the roar, now suddenly the undertow

[Chorus]
And the keys to your apartmеnt
In the charred remains
And thе kingdom of your heart bent
When you wrote my name
Just needed someone to walk you home
Just needed someone to walk you home

[Drop]
You just needed someone to walk you home
You just needed someone to walk you home

[Verse 2]
There was a magic show and the world began
And your soul stretched farther than your skin
And for a moment, all was calm
And I was home once, but now it's lost
[Pre-Chorus]
For a moment, we were weightless, takin' off our masks
There were angels in the canyons, but the fire moved too fast
For a second, we were infinite, but I mistook the glow
Suddenly the roar, now suddenly the undertow

[Chorus]
And the keys to your apartment
In the charred remains
And the kingdom of your heart bent
As you wrote my name
You just needed someone to walk you home
Now I need someone to walk me home

[Drop]
Now I need someone to walk me home

[Bridge]
And you can't go back again
And the doctors did what they said they'd do
And you can't go back again
Know it's hard goin' through
Now I need someone to walk me home

[Drop]
Now I need someone to walk me home
Now I need someone to walk me home

Genius Annotation

Tyler Lyle said that this song is about the 2018 Camp Fire in California, which was an especially deadly fire because it overtook the city of Paradise, CA in less than 10 minutes. Within the song’s narrative, the fire could simply be a metaphor for a fast-moving and uncontrollable love affair, or it could literally describe the lovers being caught in the fire and one of them dying of the resulting injuries.
