Some people think Doja Cat has been acting a little too “demonic” lately, and naturally, the button-pushing singer/rapper has decided to have some fun with this idea. She returns today with “Demons,” the third single from her forthcoming album Scarlett, and it’s a cocksure rebuke of those who would paint her as some type of satanist. “Demons” promptly shot to the upper reaches of the Genius Top Songs chart.
Produced by d.a. got that dope, “Demons” is a spooky, clobbering rap track that finds Doja very much on the attack. Here’s how she starts the chorus that opens the song:

In the first verse, Doja flaunts her wealth and brags about how she recently quit vaping.

Doja starts the second verse by acknowledging some of the criticism that’s been hurled at her in recent years. Could that “cash cow” line be a reference to her 2018 viral hit “Mooo!”?

She later references her move toward more hip-hop-oriented tracks on this latest album cycle and insists that those rooting for downfall are bound to be disappointed.

“Demons” arrives with a horror-movie-style music video in which a demonic (no other word, really) Doja wreaks havoc on a suburban home occupied by a mom (played by the great Christina Ricci) and her kids.
