Back in January, he teased a cover of the ‘CTRL’ singer’s biggest solo hit.

Frank Ocean just returned with his second PrEP+ club night, featuring an all-queer lineup that included Arca, Leeon, Papi Juice, and Shyboi. But he also shared a full version of his cover of SZA’s “The Weekend.”

The CTRL singer’s biggest solo hit was transformed into a far more upbeat remix, aligning with Ocean’s recent embrace of club music.

Last month, he talked to W Magazine about what inspires him these days. “I’ve been interested in club, and the many different iterations of nightlife for music and songs,” he said. “And so the things I look at now have a lot to do with those scenes: Detroit, Chicago, techno, house, French electronic… I grew up in New Orleans, so the closest to the nightlife scene for me was New Orleans bounce, and that was a lot of trends.”

While the vocals on his cover are gender-swapped, he keeps the pronouns of the original lyrics intact:

My man is my man, is your man
Heard it’s her man too
My man is my man, is your man
Heard that’s her man
Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
I just keep him satisfied through the weekend

Back in January, he posted a short cover of the song on his Instagram Story, staying faithful to the original arrangement:

SZA previously talked to Vulture’s Hunter Harris about the meaning behind “The Weekend.” “Time-sharing a man is real AF,” she said. “If we’re all being honest there’s very few men that are just dating one woman. I think, low-key, the internet makes it so difficult [to be in relationships] because we’re taking in so much information. There’s always new, new, new, more, more, more. Having one person seems like a restriction, like a limitation. Everyone’s used to being overstimulated.”

In August, she revealed that an album would arrive “soon as fuck.” She told Kerwin Frost that she’s been in the studio with Justin Timberlake, Post Malone, and BROCKHAMPTON.

Ocean has been making headlines with a slew of releases, including his latest single, “DHL”—which he premiered on his Beats 1 show, blonded RADIO. The vinyl singles for “Cayendo” and “Dear April” are already sold out on his online store.

Update (Oct. 26): SZA tweeted that her team cleared Ocean’s cover of “The Weekend”:
