Lil Mosey Calls His XXL Freshmen Cypher Verse “Trash”

The 17-year-old rapper said his strengths lie in writing songs and melodies.

When the first part of the 2019 XXL Freshmen Cyphers dropped on Tuesday, much of the attention was directed toward DaBaby for reusing a verse from an April 2019 Instagram video. However, Lil Mosey’s verse also inspired a bunch of social media memes.

The 17-year-old rapper took the criticism in stride and explained his strengths lie in writing songs and melodies:

On his verse, Mosey raps:

Goddamn, I feel like the man
Freshman of the year, I woke up like the man
Never poppin' Xans, ‘cause they killin’ me, damn
When you got the money, they be tryin' be your friend
Okay, this a lame ass beat
Walk up on your bitch, my dick eight feet deep

People responded to Mosey’s rhymes with Spongebob and Hey Arnold! memes, some of which the Seattle native acknowledged by retweeting them:

Mosey’s breakout hit and highest-charting single to date is “Noticed.” The track features Mosey singing the hook and delivering his verses in a rap-sung cadence.

Last year, he appeared on Genius' series Verified to break down the track:
