XXXTentacion Debuts At No. 1 On The Billboard 200 With His Posthumous Album ‘SKINS’

His last album, ‘? (Question Mark),’ also debuted at No. 1 in March 2018.

SKINS, the first posthumous album from controversial rapper XXXTentacion, earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week after moving 132,000 equivalent album units. It’s the rapper’s second No. 1 album, following ? (Question Mark) in March of this year.

SKINS was preceded by the single “BAD!,” and was largely produced by XXXTentacion’s friend and frequent collaborator John Cunningham. Kanye West serves as the lone feature. After his June murder, XXXTentacion’s sales spiked dramatically, rising by 1603 percent and giving him his first no. 1 single with “SAD!”

Meek Mill held the top spot last week with Championships, though the official confirmation was considerably delayed due to a data discrepancy with Nielsen, Billboard’s statistical provider. In its second week, Championships moved 129,000 units and landed at No. 2.

Also in its first week, Gucci Mane’s Evil Genius sold 51,000 units, to finish at No. 5. The album features appearances from Quavo, 21 Savage, Lil Skies, and more.

Rounding out the top five are Michael Bublé’s 2011 holiday album Christmas and the A Star is Born soundtrack from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Genius recently broke down the meaning behind XXXTentacion’s collaboration with West, “One Minute,” in an episode of Song Stories.
