VULTURES 2 continues the collaborative album series between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign. It was announced on January 23, 2024 via Ye’s Instagram, which confirmed the second and third volume.

Despite the album not releasing on the previously confirmed date—March 8—Ye and Ty posted the cover art on their Instagram pages the next day, after hosting a private listening party for the album.

During its mixing and mastering stages in the days following, Ye communicated with multiple fan pages on Instagram about VULTURES 2. He most notably mentioned the album being available solely on his YZY website. Afterward, on March 10, 2024, he settled that the album would release for $20 USD on YZY, citing James Blake’s lengthy series of X posts addressing artists' modern devaluation.
