MilesTheMorales Reviews: QUAVO HUNCHO

Huncho. Huncho, huncho, huncho. At least you tried.

(I’m not even gonna talk about the Meet-the-Robinsons abomination of an album cover this is ‘cuz it roasts itself for existing)

This is my first time reviewing an album for real, but it looks pretty easy because this album is straight ass sauce.

Let’s get this over with

1.) BIGGEST ALLEY OOP

This is the first track of the album yet it still manages to sound like filler.

The beginning sounds like it’s trying to hype you up for something at the beginning, but fails at it, instead putting you to sleep. Huncho realizes this so he starts rapping to wake you up.

That pretty much summarizes the song.

Production is pretty nice, but it’s wasted on Quavo.

I give this a solid 4.7/10.

2.) PASS OUT

After passing out due to the last song, this one comes up.

At least 21 savage is here to help. He gives a pretty solid verse on here tbh. Gives a nice distraction to the nothingness of the rest of the song.

Once again, the beats are good here, but so is the feature. This is the only thing to look forward to for the rest of the album.

Rating: 6.5/10.

3.) Huncho Dreams

The first 50 seconds is a skit of a young huncho bragging to his dad about his first and last time he had sex. Definitely did not need to hear that.

The rest of the song is your average quavo with corny lines and a trap beat.

Speaking of which, shoutout Murda Beatz for making this experience a bit more bearable.

Lyric Highlights:

no fefe, I skeet skeet, on your face ass

Called up Huncho to come tap that ass

Pull up on you, autotune when I grip that ass

Pullin' on yo' weave, ‘cross the room when I pipe that ass

Rating: 2/11.

4.) FLIP THE SWITCH ft. DRAKE

At the beginning of the track, it sounded like Quavo was struggling to keep up with the beat of his own song.(Also, 10/10 beat btw)

But all of the anticipation for “flip the switch” is when the song flips from mediocre to good, even for 30 seconds.

Of course, I’m talking about Drake’s feature.

Drake saved this track with his flow, delivery and bars. Instead of trying to squeeze some lyrics into the rhythm, he just does it. And majestically at that.

Rating: 7.2/10.

5.) GIVE IT TO EM

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know who Saweetie is, but her literal 2 bars on the track was pretty fire I guess.

Notable Bars:

First class, yeah, you sittin' with him, baby (Woo)

First class, you sittin' next to the boss (Huncho)

Rating: 4.0/10

6.) SHINE

@AstroworldIsAOTY, this is for you

For those criticizing Tay Keith for making the same beat over and over, here’s a refresher for you.

This is actually a pretty decent song, not even focusing on the 11/10 beat by Tay. I can actually get fired up to this song.

Rating: 8.1/10

7.) WORKIN ME

Flow and delivery is strong in this one, the beat isn’t as strong, however.

This song sounds perfectly fine playing in the background of working on a project, but not exactly something to die for in a concert.

Rating: 7/10

8.) HOW BOUT THAT?

Missed opportunity to have Bhad Bhabie on the track smh

Anyway, Romano & OG Parker did a nice one on this track. Exellent production.

And Quavo seems to be doing better gradually when it comes to flow and delivery as the album progresses. Hope it stays that way.

Notable lyrics:

She gave me mouth, the dental floss (Aye, floss)

I bought a boat, I feel like a boss (Ugh)

Rating: 7.9/10

9.) CHAMPAGNE ROSÉ

Murda Beatz did a lot better on this beat than his last track, and Madonna KILLED IT on here!(Even if she does sound like an android)

Cardi B was nice with it too, though her part is rather short and would make no difference if she was cut out of the song entirely.

Rating: 8/10

We halfway through this, go get some snacks or something.
cue Jeapordy! music

You back? Let’s continue.

10.) KEEP THAT SHIT

This song is pretty funny. Good meme material, and potential forum weapon material.

Other than that, Production is nice, features are nice. Nothing outstanding tbh.

(Fun fact, Quavo says “Keep that shit” 34 times, only 20 times less than lil pump said “gucci gang” in, well you know.)

Rating: 6.9/10

11.) FUCK 12

If you thought the last song was wasn’t repetitive enough, here’s “Fuck 12.”

He surpassed both Lil Pump and himself in repetitiveness with a whopping 72 mentions of “fuck 12.”

I guess he was trying to go for some sort of political message about racism, but it falls flat once you realise the song is just describing the life of a stereotypical coon, practicing stereotypical coonery.

It just comes off as a flammable blanket statement. Not very helpful when putting out the flames of the topic.

Notable Bars:

Fuck 12 fuck 12 fuck 12

Fuck 12 Fuck 12 fuck 12 Fuck 12

Rating: 1.9/10

13.) LOSE IT

This song is ass cheeks, but Lil Baby saved it.

Quavo is struggling on his beats yet again. The difference between a good and bad beat rider is night and day here.

Seriously, the only thing saving this song from being an almost 0 is lil baby.

Rating: 3.0/10

14.) RERUN

You know Trav and Quavo always have great chemistry on the track, so it’s no surprise that this one is a banger. Arguably the best song on the album.

However, don’t let nobody see this lyric or he’s gonna get canceled real quick

Night times, summertime cold
You really wanna say yes, but you sayin' no

I mean, he clearly has no sense of consent in this line so he could be perceived as a bad person

but this is an album review, not a personal review.

Rating: 9.1/10

15.) GO ALL THE WAY

I was wondering why this beat was so nasty, and I remembered that Pharrell Williams produced it.

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed it a lot. But mostly for the beat.

Rating: 7.77/10

16.) LAMB TALK

This song was released months prior to this, but it’s still fire.

Rating: 8/10

17.) BIG BRO

He alludes to Lil Peep on this one but idk what he’s going for:

Think you poppin' Xanax bars, but it’s Fentanyl
(No-no bars, it’s Fentanyl)
Think you’re living life like rockstars but you’re dead now (Yeah)

Is this another one of his attempts at giving a half-baked “message” along with his hypocritical lifestyle portrayed in his music? Is it a diss towards him? idk, but lemme know what you think about this.

Besides that, this just sounds like filler. Bad filler. It’s a boring song.

Rating: 2/10

18.) SWING

This sort of hits a nostalgic spot for me.

It’s a mixture of Rap and Reggaeton, and I like the features included. The beat is also perfect for the theme of the song.

Rating: 7.6/10

19.) BUBBLE GUM

Again, this had already been released. It’s not as good as Lamb Talk though.

This comes across as another repetitive song in Quavo’s discog that you find yourself skipping every time.

Rating: 5/10

20.) LOST

The final song in this album.

Now, the song is alright and all. Actually scratch that, it’s top 5 best songs on the album(in no particular order), but at the same time, it’s really skippable. Not because it sounds like the others, but because it’s just… boring.

But, it’s a good song. An outlier when it comes to this album.

Rating: 7.99/10.

Verdict

When I average out the ratings of each individual song, I get a 6/10. And I would say this is pretty accurate.

The majority of this album is either Quavo saying complete nonsense, or not saying enough to keep the listener awake.

The features and producers carry Quavo on his solo album when he should be the one carrying them.

I would call this album a dissapointment, but you can’t dissapoint someone who expected no less than what was delivered.

Album Score = 5/10.

Be sure to listen to the album and Reas all the lyrics on Genius.

Anyway I had a minor anxiety attack while doing this so imma take a break

Did you actually give LAMB TALK a 8/10? I mean, it’s arguably the most basic song on the album. I’m sorry, but a repeating chorus that doesn’t even sound catchy + painfully horrible lyricism + a boring and basic beat with barely any melody = a 1.5/10 for me.

@MariaImDrunkIsOnSpotifyNOW I mean it’s garbage but it’s not making me want to stick a needle in my eardrum and slam it in with my palm, that would go to Tekashii 6ix9ine.

At lowest it’s a 4.
