Blue Eyes Lyrics
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a deep blue sea
On a blue blue day
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
When the morning comes
I'll be far away
And I say
Holding back the tears
Holding back the pain
Baby's got blue eyes
And she's alone again
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a clear blue sky
Watching over me
Blue eyes
I love blue eyes
When I'm by her side
Where I long to be
I will see
Laughing in the rain
Baby's got blue eyes
And I am home, and I am home again

This song has a very melancholy ring to it. Eyes are of the soul...maybe a soul that was suffering. Someone he loved and who witnessed this loved one's suffering?

This man travels and has to leave his baby with blues eyes, the at the end, he is home again.

Not a big Elton John fan, but I love this song. Makes me think of a friend of mine who consistantly chooses the wrong guy. And she has blue eyes.

The words "baby's got blue eyes" sound cool to me. I think it's an alliteration, if that is the correct term. Elton's voice really is not bad.

I think this song is about a very young child who feels jealous about his newborn sibling whose blue eyes resemble their mom's. He considers the possibility of running away from home and fantasizes about how much he would be missed, but then reconsiders after realizing (in a dreamy way) how much he would miss the love and care of mom. Wether I am right or wrong, this song is pure music genius.

I realize CANDLE IN THE WIND was about Marilyn Monroe, however when I listen to BLUE EYES, it makes me think of her, her blue eyes, her laughing in the sun, laughing in the rain. holding back the tears, holding back the pain, and she's alone again.
