They say we're young and we don't know
We won't find out until we grow
Well, I don't know if all that's true
'Cause you got me, and baby, I got you

Babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe

They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a plot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

Babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe

I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around

Don't let them say your hair's too long
'Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb

Babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe

I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won't let go
I got you to love me so

I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe
I got you, babe

So sweet, I love this part:

I got you to hold my hand, I got you to understand. I got you to walk with me, I got you to talk with me. I got you to kiss goodnight, I got you to hold me tight. I got you, I won't let go, I got you to love me so.

it's about me and my ex boyfriend (we split up about 2 months ago) we are young (i'm 15 and he's 19), and i didn't tell my mum about him because i knew she'd say i was too young to spend as much time with him as i wanted to. he had to pay the rent on his flat, so was always working, and i always spend my money before i've got it! whenever i was down he cheered me up. i went through a tough time with my family when i was with him and i left home for a bit. i was scared so i went straight to him. he has long(ish) hair (which i think he's had cut since we split up) he always held my hand. we were going to go to wales to climb hills and mountains and stuff. and the list part at the bottom all relates to how we were. dammit i need a boyfriend again! :P

blow up blondie- At fifteen, it's not always good to get into such a strong relationship. It's very hard to stay together during a time when both people are changing so much and growing so much, and especially because the difference between a fifteen year old and a nineteen year old is BIG... whether or not you can see it at 15... not to mention the illegal sex thing (in America, you might live elsewhere and it could be different)... Please don't say that this song is ABOUT you guys... it happens to be ABOUT Sonny and Cher, and in the song, they don't break up. However, in real life, they did, which just goes to show that no matter how much you love someone, things don't always work out.

blow up blondie - Yeah, the song must be about you. Not only was is written about you, but for you, and it will always be regarded as your song.

Man. This song. I know the lyrics are terribly simplistic and somewhat trite, but they're still amazing. I mean, I still say Sonny Bono was one of the greatest lyricists ever. He had a knack for making incredibly simple sentiments mean so much.

i don't think "blow up blondie" meant the song was ABOUT her. i think she just meant it describes her situation and that she RELATES to it; as we all do once in a while.

stop being such jerks to her. when my parents started dating, they were in the same situation. my mother was sixteen & my father was twenty. given that was back in the early eighties, and my father stalked my mother before actually asking her out.

and yes, at fifteen & nineteen, those four years are a big difference. especially today. but just lay off her. those four years won't seem as bad when she's nineteen. my parents made it work.

I usually think of these type of oldschool love songs as corny and cheesy, but there's something about this one which makes me like it heh.

This is an alarm clock song from "Groundhog Day" btw. Awesome

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
