Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar.
You're gonna go far,
You're gonna fly high,
You're never gonna die,
You're gonna make it if you try,
They're gonna love you.

Well I've always had a deep respect,
And I mean that most sincerely.
The band is just fantastic,
That is really what I think.
Oh by the way, which one's Pink?

And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

We're just knocked out.
We heard about the sell out.
You gotta get an album out.
You owe it to the people.
We're so happy we can hardly count.

Everyone else is just green,
Have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start,
It could be made into a monster
If we all pull together as a team.

And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

This is a great Pink Floyd cover... the obvious reference for some is drugs... but I think it talks a lot about the music industry and how this treats music like something to take advantage for... and just try to make money on everything, even on an artist integrity.

this song is about the music industry not really givin' a shit about the artists' and just worrying about making money..."and did we tell ya' the name of the game, boy, we call it riding the gravy train...". As well as the part that goes "oh, by the way, which one's pink?" which just shows the record executives' ignorance, since obviously no one in Pink Floyd was actually named Pink

    Monkeywrench74,

The vocals aren't by Brian May, he just plays guitar.

This song is sung by drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The song was written by Pink Floyd about their founder (song writer and guitar player) Syd Barret who was driven to madness and left the band. the whole album "wish you were here" is about him.

This song is not about Syd. Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here are about him, but Welcome to the Machine and Have a CIgar are about the music industry. Have a Cigar is obviously lighter than Welcome to the Machine. Just look at the lyrics.

By the way, I think this is a great cover. Foo Fighters did this song their way and it came out very good. Primus also does a good cover of this song.
