She's electric
She's in a family full of eccentrics
She's done things I've never expected
And I need more time
She's got a sister
And God only knows how I've missed her
And on the palm of her hand is a blister
And I need more time

And I want you to know
I've got my mind made up now (mind made up now)
But I need more time
And I want you to say
Do you know what I'm sayin'? (What I'm sayin')
But I need more
'Cause I'll be you and you'll be me
There's lots and lots for us to see
Lots and lots for us to do
She is electric, can I be electric too?

She's got a brother (a brother)
We don't get on with one another
But I quite fancy her mother
And I think that she likes me
She's got a cousin (a cousin)
In fact she's got 'bout a dozen (a dozen)
She's got one in the oven (the oven)
But it's nothing to do with me

And I want you to know
I've got my mind made up now (mind made up now)
But I need more time
And I want you to say
Do you know what I'm sayin'? (What I'm sayin')
But I need more
'Cause I'll be you and you'll be me
There's lots and lots for us to see
There's lots and lots for us to do
She is electric, can I be electric too?

Can I be electric too?
Can I be electric too?
Can I be electric too?

I agree strokesman. When I first bought the cd 5 years ago, I used to rewind over and over the "and I want you to know..." part just because I am obsessed with the way Liam sings that "WAAAANT" part. It is just so wonderful and heartfelt. People who dislike Oasis need to get their heads out of their asses. Their first 2 albums are classics, but even "Be Here Now" is brilliant besides 3-4 songs and all their others have their moments as well. The new one though is easily their best since "What's the Story".

wow, I've been singing this song for years and never thought about what it was talking about. Awkward.

So he falls in love with this girl and she's exciting but then he finds out that the whole family is, well, exciting, especially the female ones. He doesn't get along with her brother, but with her mother there's some weird tension, "I think that she likes me." One of the cousins is pregnant, "got one in the oven," but the singer is maybe unreliably denying his involvement, "it's got nothin to do with me." As for the sister, well, once we realize what's given her a blister on her hand, then I guess we realize why he's missed her so much. No wonder he "needs more time": sounds like a complicated situation.

Hope I never offended any more perceptive person than myself singing this song in front of them lol.

    My Interpretation

Hey guys! I'm new here. I really like this music, but i always have a particular opinion about meanings, so here it goes...

I think this song is about ADHD. "She's electric" cause she is ADHD. This disease has a big genetic/hereditary percentage. Usually, when not treated, ADHD people are eccentric since the are searching for new things all the time "She's in a family full of eccentrics". At the same time, due to the impulsivity they are unpredictable, and we never know what to expect from them. High sensibility characterizes too the ADHD; the capacity to read the invisible, the deepest feelings... that's why he asks not so defined "And I want you to say, Do you know what I'm saying?". ADHD people are complex persons, and it's not easy for the others to deal with it. In the song, he likes her, but she's complicated and not easy to conquer. But suddenly he become a thinker due to the atraction for her, and realized he loves her. However, at the same time he is confused about him, and asks more time to understand himself, discover himself.

    Take Careeeee

Noel&Liam say She's Electric-"It was the first song I wrote for the album. Someone asked me if it was about Blur but it´s not. It´s like a Small Faces song or something by The Kinks."

Thanks fiascodagama! Brilliant. I have wondered what that blister reference meant for years. I think your right.

this song is about being in love with the image of someone. and not entirely, or necessarily, them as a person. it's a hard subject to decipher :P it's talking about infatuation and the desire to be included within the subject of your infatuation, yet being confused whether you really "fit in" together in the long run.

It's a little know fact that Liam's Gallagher's first true love died of an electric shock. Here's a rundown of what the other lyrics mean:

"She's got one in the oven". What Liam is saying here is that prior to the electrocution his first love was cooking him a nice lasagne.

"But I quite fancy her mother". Despite the horrible death of his loved one, Liam is still lovelorn to the point where he fancies his since departed first love's mother. You'll be surprised to know the mother in question is actually Patsy Kensit who Liam eventually married. Patsy Kensit won seven Oscars and is regarded as one of the greatest acts in the history of the universe.

"And on the palm of her hand is a blister". In Manchester a "blister" is another name for a will. So the family wrote her estate on her hand. It's a lovely lyric when you think about it. In real life Liam inherited a toaster. Every since the sound of bread popping up from a toaster sends a shiver down his spine.

Yeah, this song is full of euphemisms for being with a girl that has a family that is a bit promiscuous. The sister gives him handy's ("on the palm of her hand is a blister"), the mom makes passes at him ("But I quite fancy her mother and I think she likes me"), and cousin's got a kid but he knows it ain't his ("she's got one in the oven", implying they've done stuff before). And the brother probably knows about all this, explaining why he doesn't like the singer.

Side note: I like the little harmony bit at the end, a cheeky reference to the end of "With A Little Help From My Friends" by The Beatles. It's a fun song for sure, especially when drinking.
