Privacy Lyrics

Ain’t the pictures enough, why do you go through so much
To get the story you need, so you can bury me
You’ve got the people confused, you tell the stories you choose
You try to get me to lose the man I really am

You keep on stalking me, invading my privacy
won’t you just let me be
‘cause you cameras can’t control, the minds of those who know
That you’ll even sell your soul just to get a story sold

[CHORUS]
I need my privacy, I need my privacy
So paparazzi, get away from me

Some of you still wonder why, one of my friends had to die
To get a message across, that yet you haven’t heard
My friend was chased and confused, like many others I knew
But on that cold winter night, my pride was snatched away

Now she get no second chance, she just ridiculed and harassed
Please tell my why
No there’s a lesson to learn, respect’s not given, it’s earned
Stop maliciously attacking my integrity

[CHORUS]

Now there’s a lesson to learn, stories are twisted and turned
Stop maliciously attacking my integrity

[CHORUS x 3]

His best track in my opinion. He showed so much emotion as he sang it. His voice almost breaks toward the end and I read where the producer (?) made the decision to leave it as is. Obviously about him feeling hounded by the press. I am not a big Jackson fan, although I realize how immensely talented he was. For me this song is his best work and his best probably because he felt the intense pain of living in the spotlight once that spotlight turned negative.

The message is quite clear, he wants to be stop being harrassed by the tabloids, papparazi and people who lie to make money. I believe he could be talking about Princess Diana as one of his friends who had to die. She can't have a second chance. And yet people aren't getting the message...

The meaning is pretty self-explanatory, but I couldn't help but notice this line of the song: "But on that cold winter night, my pride was snatched away". A possible reference to the strip search he had to go through back in 1993?

this songs meaning is to stop with all the tabloids stop stalking him following him everywhere let him be for once he's been stalked his whole life he's been harrassed his whole life taunted. people need to stop this this hurt him badly really badly. if you were in his shoes how would you feel, think of others how the feel when people say all this stuff that isn't true. all the stories said about him were false

Hmm, your classic stalker story. Is it the paparazzi or a crazy lover fan he's talking about? He almost paints it in a romantic fashion.

To Amaya-chan: He was talking about the death of Princess Diana. Because the paparazzi was chasing her which caused the wreck.

Yeah, I gathered that from some of the other lines, but I was talking about the "cold winter night" part. Princess Diana died in the summer of 1997.

I cannot believe more people have not commented on/listened to this great song. It truly defines the last decade of the man's life. Listen to the real pain in Jackson's voice. It's a pain that cannot be faked. GREAT song! I remember when he was a little boy and we'd watch him and his big brothers perform on TV. He was so cute and it was obvious from the beginning that he would become a super talent. Not sure when it all went wrong for him, but his self-image was horrible; otherwise, he was not have warped his face into something almost unrecognizable. It's as though he killed off that innocent little boy inside. The documentary on his life was astounding; it really showcased how multi-talented this man was.

Listen to his voice crack in the song. They wanted him to re do that section of the song, but later decided it was an added bonos; it showed how much pain Jackson was in at the time. Even though he brought it all on himself, he was a human being who was tormented by the press after 1993. This song showcases his frustration and sadness. I have walked in similar (but much smaller) shoes. If it were fiscally worth it for me to sell my home, I would. If I didn't have children, I would move far away. Sometimes you cannot escape the past that claims you as its victim. Jackon just wanted to be left alone. I concur...
