When you're on
I swear you're on
You rip my heart right out
You rip my heart right out

I think the whole room
Can hear me clear my throat
You rip my heart right out
You rip my heart right out

If you still care at all
Don't go, tell me now
If you love me at all
Don't call

Then out of nowhere
Put me right back there
Rip my heart right out
You rip my heart right out

And we know what happens
When we get to your house
You'll rip my heart right out
You'll rip my heart right out

If you still care at all
Don't go, tell me now
If you love me at all
Please don't, tell me now
If you still care at all
Don't go, tell me now
If you love me at all
Don't call

I throw away everything
I've written you
Oh, anything
Just keep my mind from thinking
How I've had you once
Oh, I can't forget that
Sometimes I wish
I could lose you again

You're winning me over
With everything you say
You'll rip my heart right out
Rip my heart right out
Rip my heart right out

When I let you closer
I only want you closer
You rip my heart right out
Rip my heart right out
You rip my heart right out
Rip my heart right out

If you still care at all
Don't go, tell me now
If you love me at all
Please don't, tell me now
Yeah, if you still care at all
Don't go, tell me now
Yeah, if you love me at all
Don't call
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(Please don't, tell me now)
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(Don't go, tell me now)
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
If you love me at all
(If you love me at all)
Yeah, if you love, love, love, love
Love me at all
If you love me at all
If you love me at all

The one you love isn't the one who won't break your heart.

I think this song talks about the in-between stage after a break up. You dont know if you should talk to your ex, or if you should shut them out of your life. It sounds like the writer is trying to get over the ex, but still sees her and feels heartbroken for it. He's tortured when he's with her, because he is in a conflict of falling in love again, even though nothing will come out of it. the easiest thing would be for him to throw away everything and distance himself from her, because if she calls or tells him that she still loves him, he would jump right back into the relationship.

Well, I think the meaning of this song is pretty universal, but it's the way that it's presented that makes it so damn special. I'd listened to the album maybe four times before I realised just how heartbreaking the song was -- and then I couldn't stop listening to it over and over again... with the kind of obsession that makes romance hard, whether you're falling in love or tearing yourself apart. It's all self-inflicted wounds anyway.

ya know. i HATED this song when i first got bleed american. i had to skip it...i dunno. i just didn't like the way it sounded. it just went against everything i loved about clarity. but then, i listened to the lyrics and i found that it was the main thing that i love about clarity. the whole universal experience of the ups and downs of love, etc. god, it kills me now. it totally reminds me of my "ex" (we were never in an official relationship, so i guess it doesn't count)...after i completely broke it off with him, he would know (and he still knows) JUST when to call me and tell me that he wants me for real. he calls when my life is just starting to get stressful (before a midterm/final. etc) and it turns my life upside down. i've actually told him never to call me again if he really cares...he keeps calling. anyway.

This song is simple. The lyrics are straightforward and meaningful at the same time. To me, this song is about a bf/gf relationship that won't work for some reason. Maybe it's an age difference, a distance problem, etc, etc. But he loves this girl, and he wants her to know that. But he also needs her to understand that he can't continue as they are.

The lyrics describe the temptation, pain, and heartbreak that he faces in trying to finally end the relationship.

hey y'all, just thought i'd post these complete lyrics b/c it's sortof hard to follow the broken up lyrics in the other version, and Your House is the kindof song where you need to have readable lyrics that flow....and yes, I find this song reeeeeally emo.

This song reminds me of my ex bf. we were together 19 months. We just grew apart & eventually broke up, but still fooled around and stuff. 5 months later we're both seeing someone new, but I still love him. Aaaaargh! This song totally gets to me - I still see him cos we're best friends so the lyrics "And we know what happens when we get to your house Rip my heart right out You'll rip my heart right out " kinda fit. Lifes a bitch. :S:

Yep, kinda tired of having my heart ripped out. I'm ready for something real, something meaningful. I am waiting for that day, whenever it may come. . . .

"you rip my heart right out" that's like me when (if) I ever fell in love and fell out love, both were just so intense I felt like my heart was being ripped out. Ripped out when I fall in love because, I don't know....like you feel that connection and if it's not a connection, there's just some kind of chemisty even if it's one sided, or maybe lust, something that causes you to suffer because it catches your eye or attention. I think of that and trying to forget them because you know that maybe it just won't work out and it's best that they try to stay away and not even think of them, be aware of that certain someone that caused so much racket in either a good OR bad way in your relationship. I have all my thoughts down, most of it, but I don't think it makes sense. I just think it's a love song to me....and, I can relate in my own personal 'psychotic' way when it comes to if not love, whatever caused me to come across this feeilng and situation when it comes to someone.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
