Peephole Lyrics

When your stars are baked,
And your rivers fly,
Do you ever believe you were stuck out in the, Sky,

When your castle breaks,
And your feet are dry,
Do you ever believe you were stuck out in the, Sky,

Do you believe, when you're high,
That your life is tried,

Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high,

When your moon is fake,
And your mermaids cry,
Do you ever believe you were stuck out in the, Sky,

When your tunnel fades,
And your guide is shy,
Do you ever believe you were stuck out in the, Sky,

Do you believe, when you're high,
That your life is tried,

Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high~

Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't you ever get stuck in the sky,
Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high

"When your stars are baked"

-when what appears as unreachable becomes ready to ‘digest’ As some people say that marijuana helps you understand things more deeply - "it was like opening my third eye" Also "baked" meaning stoned.

"And your rivers fly"
-basically meaning that what we thought as impossible ‘can’ happen to ‘you’ - effects of use, relating to the star thingy. - we can imagine things that we would have never of thought of without this ‘eye opener’

"When your castle breaks And your feet are dry" -When your protector from the world breaks - your ideology of drugs is shattered(like the castle) when you try marijuana because it’s not dangerous and you come to no harm(like your feet being dry)

"Do you ever believe you were stuck in the, Sky" err.. I’d guess this would be asking the question if we thought we were ever living the ‘blind’ life, where the world is a good place and the place we live is the least corrupt, and that marijuana is an ‘evil’, ‘dangerous’ drug. - Did we ever believe this? I dunno

"Don't you ever get stuck in the sky, Don't you ever get stuck in the sky, Don't ever get stuck in the sky, when you're high" -err..hmm….The addiction thing is most likely right but how does it tie into marijuana? Metaphorically,…maybe it means that we should never believe what we’re told by the government, never get stuck in the ‘blind’ life - where we are living life ‘in the sky’ - like heaven because our society is apparently unflawed? And it is. When ‘your high’ might mean don’t change your mind when your important - when you’ve experienced the effects and now living the ‘blind’ life again(maybe like Bill Clinton was.lol) because it is better than reality? Being important in society as being the drug because we are all addicted to this life (and possetion) - --I’m grasping at straws here… but I think that Serj was trying to describe two things at once here. Maybe? Huh?

"When your tunnel fades And your guide is shy"

err…again guessing that tunnel might be symbolising the whole near death experience thing - seeing a tunnel with a light at the other end - light being an afterlife? (I dunno but I’ve heard that marijuana is used as a meditation aid.. and an astroprojection aid or something…I dunno) But when it fades we would be lost without guidance…and we don’t have guidance. The marijuana is our guide to the other side the better life…it helps us as a whole if everybody would just take it and not be so stubborn. It makes us free from the sky ideology - by using marijuana it is guiding us to live the better ‘non-blind’ life?

err just another opinion……..a weird one at that.

Spot on, I'd say. Mixing marijuana with mushrooms heightens the visuals of the tunnel as sound plays havoc with your retina. this light is indeed used as focus points WITHOUT drugs during meditation to help center the mind and clear it from all thought so that logic flows through the brain more freely without the fears and trepidations that plague our normal thought processes. I feel that stuck in the sky does mean stuck with your head up your ass.... in this country. This place hurts others for it's gain, acts like it has a right too, pollutes the shit...

let me just clear this up, its not at all about OD'ing, you think a fucking genius would write about something so simple as "dont do too much of drugs or you'll die"

what hes saying is when you're life isnt as good as you wish (he uses many metaphors to say this one)

that you cant keep getting high to escape those problems, they will never leave you and you cant hide from reality by getting high all the time ("dont ever get stuck in the sky") its just not a possible way out

bottom line is, yes cannabis is without a doubt the safest drug in the world, but even with that you need to control how you use it, and DONT USE IT TO ESCAPE REAL LIFE, BUT TO APPRECIATE IT

we should use it to CHANGE REAL LIFE for the better for everyone on the planet. so yes, mind opening with responsibility. our problem is we all know what we should change and wish it so... but it's easier to just go smoke more and think about it as opposed to acting

i always thought he was saying "no you'll never get stuck in the sky, when you're high" at the end of the chorus. it still sounds better to me; it makes the whole song more coherent. believing these to be the lyrics, i thought the song was about how drugs make you feel like you're in a better world, but then you realize that it's all fake. of course, i could just be completely wrong...

I like it a lot, especially how, if you'll notice, the background sounds like eerie circus music. I read what they wrote before the song, so I'm pretty sure its about drugs, but I don't see how.

I think the meaning of this excellent song is simply this: Get high. Just don't become some kind of burn-out and face reality sometimes. That's where the "Don't ever get stuck in sky, when you're high" comes in. I'm probably totally wrong, but I like that message.

it could be about OD'ing and dying. getting stuck in the sky when your high could be like dying while your high. but now that i've read Dezard's opinion that seems more accurate to me.

This song is definitely about drugs. It comes as a danger about the dangers of drug use, namely OD'ing or the permanent brain damage, that might be caused by a bad trip ("getting stuck in the sky").

the song is about marijuana.......in the booklet of the system of a down cd, right above the lyrics to peephole...it says..The February 18 edition of Britain's NEW SCIENTIST Magazine reports that the Geneva-based World Health Organization suppressed, under political pressure, a report which confirmed that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco.

The inspiration to this song came while using the drug. I believe the meaning of it is as Dezard said it.
