Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.
You believe there's something else
To relieve your emptiness
And you dream about yourself
And you bleed and breath the air
And it's on and on, and on, and on, and on
I just kinda died for you
You just kinda stared at me
We will always have the chance
We can do this one more time
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
All this time
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
Take me now
We can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
You believe there's somewhere else
Where it's easier than this
And you see outside yourself
And you buy the hole you'll fill
But still, it's on and on, and on, and on, and on
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
All this time
Hell yeah, I remember Aurora
Take me now
We can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
On and on, and on
Aurora wait for everyone
Wait 'till the last one's done
On and on, and on
Aurora wait for everyone
Wait 'till the last one's done
Take me now
We can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
On and on, and on, and on, and on
And on, and on, and on, and
On and on, and on, and on, and on
And on, and on, and on, and
On and on, and on, and on, and on
And on, and on, and on, and
On and on, and on, and on

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
This is from an interview with Dave Grohl and Joe Whiley.
JW- We might do. Can we talk a bit first? Is 'Aurora' a love song? DG- Yes. It's actually about when I lived in Seattle I lived right off of this street called Aurora Avenue, and I miss it. JW- Right. DG- I miss it. I miss everything about my life I had in Seattle.

The best part of this song is the muted bitterness, muted by desire to preserve and learn from the past.
"I just kinda died for you, you just kinda stared at me..."
The protagonist was hurt and never fully recovered. Even though there is hurt there, the good outweighs the bad, and the protagonist still looks back fondly upon the past.
Hell yeah.
Aurora is a street in Seattle, close to where Dave lived when he was still in Nirvana. The song is about his life there and remembering it after everything that happened to him....
I made an Account just to tell everybody how happy i am to see that Aurora gets the love it deserves
This is a love song
such a beautiful song. aurora means dawn, so that makes a lot of sense. remember the dawn after the nights we spent together, that sort of thing....
this is the best foo fighters song in my opinion, amzingly gorgeous song....especially the end with the "on and on and on and on" i love it.
The distortion on the guitar adds a unique effect to the song. This is probably my favorite track on "There Is Nothing Left To Lose". "Aurora" is just one of those songs which puts you in a good mood.
I think it's about being in awe of someone and doing so much for them when they don't even notice or care what you're doing.
I love this song so much. In fact it was my favorite-favorite song for about a year and I would listen to it before going to sleep every night. I think it's definitely one of the top five Foo Fighters songs. And I think it's about loving somoen so much that you're amazed by what they do to you.
take me now, we can spin the sun around and the stars will all come out then we'll turn and come back down
