Liberian Girl Lyrics
piya-mpenziwe)
(I love you too-I want you
too-my love)
You came and you changed my world
A love so brand new
Liberian girl...
You came and you change me girl
A feeling so true
You know that you came
And you changed my world,
Just like in the movies,
With two lovers in a scene
And she says...
"Do you love me"
And he says so endlessly...
"I love you, Liberian girl"
(Naku penda piya-naku taka
piya-mpenziwe)
(I love you too-I want you
too-my love)
More precious than any pearl
Your love so complete
Liberian girl...
You kiss me then,
Ooh, the world
You do this to me
You know that you came
And you changed my world,
Just like in the movies,
With two lovers in a scene
And she says,
"Do you love me"
And he says so endlessly
"I love you, Liberian girl"
piya-mpenziwe)
(I love you too-I want you
too-my love)
You know that you came
And you changed my world,
I wait for the day,
When you have to say
"I do,"
And I'll smile and say it too,
And forever we'll be true
I love you, Liberian girl, all the time
I love you Liberian girl, all the time
(Girl)
I love you Liberian girl, all the time
(Girl)
I love you Liberian girl, all the time
(Girl)
I love you
I love you baby
(Girl)
I want you
I love you baby
(Girl)
Oh! I love you baby, I want
you baby, ooh!
(Girl)

The song is actually about Diana Ross, even though he dedicated it to Liz Taylor.
Michael said in a 1983 interview that he was currently writing a song called Liberian Girl. (He hasn't even met Liz Taylor then)
According to an MJ bodyguard, he was assigned to guard Michael and Diana when they went on an intimate vacation together to... LIBERIA, Costa Rica, in 1983. That's right. There's actually another Liberia -- we were all fooled into believing that he was singing solely about Africa Liberia.
Think about it -- Michael was cannodling with Diana (who is african american) in Liberia, and then he subsequently writes a song about loving a ‘Liberian‘ girl right after the vacation? Sounds suspicious to me.
I assume Michael combined both Africa Liberia and Costa Rica Liberia in the song to throw people off-track, because now it makes perfect sense why the beginning of the song had a girl speaking in an African-language but then the rest of the song had a south american/latin, tropical flavour to it.
Tl;dr -- Liberian Girl is about Diana Ross, like many, many other songs written by MJ. I believe she was his muse.

Until you realized that he was singing about a girl fron the small South African republic of Liberia and not an actual librarian?

Oooh... This song is a lot of things. It's sexy, it has a beautiful exotic feel to it, and it's unique too. Seriously, how many times have you heard a sweet pop song about a girl from Liberia? The answer is not very many times.

As a child I always pictured Michael serenading a librarian in a library and her probably saying 'SHHHH! No talking!' but then taking all her clothes off anyway. Probably a library in a foreign country.
I originally got this idea too cuz it sounds like he's saying Librarian Girl, but it's not about a librarian, it's about a lady from LIBERIA.

This song is like crack for my ears. Very pretty, sexy, and exotic. Amazing.

This is one of my favourite MJ songs due to being half Liberian. Whilst the song is dedicated to Elizabeth Taylor I don't think the song is about her it wouldn't make much sense.

100% believe that Omer is Michaels son.He looks just like him back in his beat it days. it’s crazy. And thinking back I think that his song Liberan girl was about Pia, Omer’s mother. It was realsed around the same time they got together back in 1987..What is your thoughts???
I don't think Pia is Liberian and not only that but Omer has denied that rumor and Omer also does not look 1/2 black. Why do we have to think that ALL of MJ's songs are auto-biographical.Maybe he was looking at tv one night and thought of this. Maybe one of his friends were dating a Liberian girl and decided to write this, maybe he was in Liberia and so a pretty Liberian girl and wrote this without even talking to her. I agree this song so beautiful, but I think we pick MJ's songs apart too much and then...

There are alot of songs that he has written that is auto-biographical, but not all. I do miss him though :)
yes, marie7334 i agree with you on this..people always try to make his songs seem like some secret message about his hidden children, omer has denied this when he could have easily went along with the rumor for show but didn't because he didn't want to live a lie, also he looks nothing like michael jackson...do you remember michael in the 80's era? he was drop dead perfection..untouchabke..srry noone could look like that even if they deeply put money and art into creating themselves that way..he's all natural amnd adorableness! mmm! but any ways michael said he was playing ping...

I mut say Liberian girl is a very beautiful love song, meaning this song could be about a woman he cared deeply, (like his nanny) who he took a lot a places with him with out the kids. He was very mytereous and he liked it that way to me from observing over the years the things he did. It's very possible that this woman could be a Liberian. They are saying NOW that this was his secret love He did keep his kids out of the public til his funeral, Now They see he was a great father NOT...

He had a woman he loved and it was this liberian whom he sanged about. Now he deserve his peace.

I don't have any idea why you all think Omar is his son...I don't even know who that is, so whatever. Anyway, this song is amazing, the video is a little strange, but I loved the part at the end when it showed him. He had the cutest smile and laugh:) It was so childish and adorable :D
@wayla1234 fr tho. cuz i don't think Omar look like him at all. and I agree with you on the end of the video tho
