Will You Be There Lyrics

(Angel's intro)
(Piano intro)

Hold me
Like the River Jordan
And I will then say to thee
You are my friend

Carry me
Like you are my brother
Love me like a mother
Will you be there?

When weary
Tell me will you hold me
When wrong, will you mold me
When lost will you find me?

But they told me
A man should be faithful
And walk when not able
And fight till the end
But I'm only human

Everyone's taking control of me
Seems that the world's got a role for me
I'm so confused will you show to me
You'll be there for me
And care enough to bear me

(Hold me)
(Lay your head lowly)
(Softly then boldly)
(Carry me there)

(Hold me)
(Love me and feed me)
(Kiss me and free me)
(I will feel blessed)

(Carry)
(Carry me boldly)
(Lift me up slowly)
(Carry me there)

(Save me)
(Heal me and bathe me)
(Softly you say to me)
(I will be there)

(Lift me)
(Lift me up slowly)
(Carry me boldly)
(Show me you care)

(Hold me)
(Lay your head lowly)
(Softly then boldly)
(Carry me there)

(Need me)
(Love me and feed me)
(Kiss me and free me)
(I will feel blessed)

In our darkest hour
In my deepest despair
Will you still care?
Will you be there?
In my trials and my tribulations
Through our doubts and frustrations
In my violence
In my turbulence
Through my fear and my confessions
In my anguish and my pain
Through my joy and my sorrow
In the promise of another tomorrow
I'll never let you part
For you're always in my heart

i disagree with all the pedaphile accusations. one of the accusers fathers admitted that he wanted to ruin MJ, leave the poor guy alone, he wrote this song out of pure anguish for all the troubles he's had to face: an abusive father, all the accusations against himself, etc. i think the song is basically sayin that he is trying to live but it is difficult. in example he says "But they told me A man should be faithful And walk when not able And fight till the end But I'm only human" everyone seems to expect the guy to be perfect cause he is Michael Jackson, but he is only human like the rest of us. he's been through addictions and has faced hardships just like the rest of us. also the whole thing about everyone's trying to take hold of me i think is all the paparazzi trying to control and run his life.

i think the whole song basically gives the gist that he is looking for someone to who can lend a shoulder in his time of need. he was looking for somone who he could trust, someone who could love him and help him through his sorrows. it almost seems like this song is referenced toward his asking God to take Michael in His hands and comfort in him in all his sorrows, pains, and agony.

i know accusations don't give him any excuse, but he is probably just ripped on a lot cause he has a lot of money and people know they can get it off of him.

I agree with you but this song was recorded in '91 . Two years before the allegations.

@portrartist: he was facing much accusations even b4 the two trials and stuff. the media had been trying to make him look like a fool since the post-thriller era -- they juz failed becuz there were huge -- HUGE crowds of fans, and he was in pretty good light, becuz the accusations were not much focused on. the first accusation was pretty much the end of his popularity -- well, not for his fans, but the outside world started to look at him with disgust, that is. the accusations became the limelight thereafter -- all i got when...

This song touched me so much today as I watched the world say good by to an Icon. MJ was the greatest performer of our time and he is greatly missed. My heart is broken. May God me with his children in these next few months and may they always know that their dad was a great man and not a freak. R.I.P. Michael

I'm glad to say I was allways there! :) I think this song is meant for everyone that knew him. His family, his friends and his fans. It just says "look, I'm a man, I'm human, I make mistakes. But I'm capable of loving you with all of your flaws, can you say the same when it comes to me?"

Miss you like hell!

No. The song is not about "MJ and someone" rather it's about MJ reaching out to a spirit entity or force of some sort for consolment or relief or rescue from the quagmire of his present condition. This is evident in the lyrics for example: (Lead Me) (Love Me And Feed Me) (Kiss Me And Free Me) (I Will Feel Blessed) Also possible is that he is speaking about a sexual desire for someone or something here. I added the meaning after the dash:

(Hold Me) (Lay Your Head Lowly) - Oral sex (Softly Then Boldly) - HMM? (Carry Me There)...

gosh how can u even think that kinja?! michael might have been dirty-minded, but that doesn't mean he put that in his songs -- he always made sure to put decent things into his songs, becuz he was a great opposer of subliminal message and hollywood shit. well, decent except swear words to express his rebellious messages?

Michael, I love you so much. I'm sorry you had to suffer so much shit -- thank you for your love and your music, and if we do go anywhere after we die, I know you're in a better place; I know you're with God. Rest in peace, I love you.

It isn't probably true. It is not true! None of it is. He wasn't a child molester. He was an amazing, inspirational, talented, caring, and truly loving individual. He loved kids and the earth on which he stood. The media and Evan and Jordan Chandler have made him into something he's not. They and the media have killed him. I hate them for it.

First off, high 5 missjep ;) army123 and wayla1234, i understand how u feel when ur idol gets treated like trash, and i feel angry too, but plz don't blame it on the ppl --- blame it on the media only, cuz it's their misusage of the power of words which blinded the ppl into believing michael was a complete opposite of what he is, sth he'd never be. jordan chandler was exploited, his goddam father drugged him -- yeah, thats evan chandler -- but don't u sense there's more to this than stupid and selfish ppl trying to frame michael?...

This really is a beautiful song. It's amazing that he was able to produce so many songs with positive meanings considering all the difficulties he faced during his career and his childhood. In some ways, I wonder if his zeal to express love for children was his own way of trying to ensure that others didn't have to suffer the way he did as a child. (I'm not a psychologist or anything, it's just a guess)

I feel like as the "smoke" clears, it's much easier to see that regardless of whatever happened in his personal life (I'd rather be optimistic and hope that rumors were not true...), Michael tried his best to be a positive role model.

As I walked out to the street this morning, the sun was shining and this song was playing from a nearby shop. I couldn't help but feel incredibly happy and hopeful.

I agree with lola -- thanks for doing your best to help.

In my opinion the message of the whole song can be found in the last (spoken) part. For short: It's about liking a human in all situations. He is questioning if someone will be there for him while feeling good and especially when feeling bad. The sadness of the voice indicates that he wasn't in a good mood when he wrote or even when he sang this.

In our darkest hour In my deepest despair Will you still care? Will you be there? In my trials And my tripulations Through our doubts And frustrations In my violence In my turbulence Through my fear And my confessions In my anguish and my pain Through my joy and my sorrow In the promise of another tomorrow Ill never let you part For youre always in my heart.

My Interpretation
Cover art for Will You Be There lyrics by Michael Jackson

I will admit, I judged Michael for all his crazy antics. But after he passed way, I bought this song and started listening to it. I realized how he was just trying to find his way, but with EVERYONE watch his every move he couldn't never find his way. He was only human, I highly doubt anyone of us could handle his pressure.

ditto...it's rare to find another michael jackson APPRECIATER (i wouldn't say fan, don't know if ur one) that admits she's been one to point fingers b4 his death. r u filled with guilt, like i am?
