Run hide
All that was sacred to us
Sacred to us
See the signs
The covenant has been broken
By mankind
Leaving us with no shoulder with no shoulder
To rest our head on
To rest our head on
To rest our head on

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
What is the truth now?
There's still time
All that has been devastated
Can be recreated
Realize
We pick up the broken pieces
Of our lives
Giving ourselves to each other ourselves to each other
To rest our head on
To rest our head on
To rest our head on

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
What is the truth now?

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
What is the truth now?

What is the truth now?
Tell me the truth now
What is the truth now?

What is the truth now?
Tell us the truth

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
What is the truth now?

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
What is the truth now?
What is the truth now?
Tell us the truth now
What is the truth now?
Tell us the truth now
(Tell me the truth now)

This song to me has a different meaning… the way I see it is that someone just found out they were deceived in a big way by a spouse, lover, partner, parent, etc… and you are barely coming to grips with it ad you don’t know what to do:

Who's got my back now? When all we have left is deceptive So disconnected So what is the truth now?

And now they’re finding out that all that they had, all that they lost can be “re-created”:

There's still time All that has been devastated Can be recreated Realize We pick up the broken pieces Of our lives Giving ourselves to each other...ourselves to each other To rest our head on

I dunno… that’s my take on it. That’s how it speaks to me

Scott Stapp has got Cherokee descendants, so that is why he put it in, and the Indian guy is none other than Bo Taylor

Nice attitude sandman. Nice english too (reference to "shity"). In my opinion, this is a really good song for them. In fact, I'll bet you it'll be on the radio in the future. What I don't know is if the Native American heard before and after the song is a clue as to what the song is about. It kind of makes sense if the lyrics refer to America's dark history.

Hmm, after reading it a few times, I can see how it could be about America's past... and that_would_explain the Cherokee prayer that sandwiches the song.

I always thought that this song had to do with america's past and I think that the Cherokee chant in the front of the song relates to the trail of tears and how we kicked the indians out of their territory when we found out it was valuable...

Creed does not consider themselves a religious band. They aren't necesarilly spreading the word of God, they express how they feel about it. So the big difference between them and Jesus is that they don't "preach" it.

agreed myownprison i have listened to countless radio interviews with creed and every interview i have ever heard with these guys they stay very far away from the "are u a religious band?" question. this band is profoundly spiritual and i personally feel in their 3rd cd that the lyrics as a whole are more wholesome and resolute as opposed to the toilsome and troubled my own prison cd. heh doesn't mean i don't miss the days of the angry troubled creed though. :( /cry

Scott decided to put the Cherokee indian prayer in there because he is part Cherokee and the prayer is for everybody in general. I dont think the song is about Americas past, I believe its what in our lives. To quote

Theres still time All thats been devestated can be recreated Realize We pick up the broken pieces Of our lives.

Right there is the meaning of this song, what ever happens to us to break us, threw all the deceptivness of the world, it is up to us to pick ourselves up, cause theres no one for us to rest our head on. Thats just my opionion. Creed being a Christian band is wrong cause not all the members are Christian, Scott believes in Christ, and that shows in his lyrics. This is Creeds number one fan, Creedrulz
