Psycho Lyrics

Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,
Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,
Psycho groupie cocaine crazy,
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Makes you really want to go- stop.

Psycho groupie cocaine crazy
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Do you really want to think and stop,
Stop your eyes from flowing,

Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,
Psycho groupie cocaine crazy,
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Makes you really want to go - stop.
Psycho groupie cocaine crazy
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Do you really want to think and stop,
Stop your eyes from flowing out

So you want the world to stop,
Stop in and watch your body fully drop,
From the time you were a
Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,

So you want to see the show,
You really don't have to be a ho
From the time you were a
Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy.

Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,
Psycho groupie cocaine crazy,
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Makes you really want to go - stop.

Psycho groupie cocaine crazy
Psycho groupie coke,
Makes you high, makes you hide,
Do you really want to think and stop,
Stop your eyes from flowing out

So you want the world to stop,
Rushing to watch your spirit fully drop,
From the time you were a
Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy,

So you want to see the show,
You really don't have to be a ho
From the time you were a
Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy.

I can't help but think that this song isn't so much glorifying drug use as suggested in the first post but more is a description of the mental battle a drug user is put through. On one hand, drugs are perceived as fun and a release and on the other, they have their consequences. I figure this mostly because of the sharp contrasts present in the lyrics when describing drugs for example "Makes you high, makes you hide". The "high" would represent the good feeling the drugs cause, the "hide" would be a contrast, representing the consequences of hiding the problem from police, friends, family, etc. Also the line "Do you really want to think and stop?" Suggests, in my opinion, an admittance that when you face the situation from a rational point of view, you'll have to deal with the problem. The lines about watching your spirit and body "fully drop" also makes me think this song is more about the consequences of drugs than anything else.

I still think that System of a Down has a strong religious message trought the album, and I think this song could also talk about religion.

About the "groupies" of religion, the people who don't question it and follow it blindly.

The "cocaine", religion making them feel good, promising good thing for their death and addicting them and telling them how to think, exactly like a drug addict.

"psycho, crazy" because those people are dangrous when you question their beliefs.

Makes you high, makes you hide,(religion keeps you from thinking and provides answers to your questions, thus hiding you from the truth. Best exemple is the creation(the genesis))

Makes you really want to go- stop (religion promises you heaven, it makes you wanna die)

Do you really want to think and stop, Stop your eyes from flowing out (start thinking by yourself)

So you want the world to stop, Stop in and watch your body fully drop, From the time you were a Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy, (you've started to free yourself from religion, your former believer self is dropping)

So you want to see the show, You really don't have to be a ho (you don't have to believe to have a life or something like that)

Probably that it was not intended to talk about religion, but once again, I think it fits well.

@Bonzo that was pretty fucking deep

At the PoA tour Daron said, "this is a song about drugs and FUCKING!" Then they did this song sooo damned good and Daron did the best solo afterwards. Some great stuff.

This is easily one of my favorite songs off of Toxicity.

The song is obviously about groupies. I don't see how it could be interpreted otherwise. Telling them they don't have to be a ho to see the show. And how they are crazy cokeheads.

I agree that this song is about groupies. I mean.. it says "groupie" in the song. So yeah. about groupies.. and drugs. .. gotta love drugs. .. wait--

I think the song is about a certain girl ,the writer of this song has met. She was a groupie, and a coke addict , maybe even a little crazy.... but he might have fallen in love with her , so he told her to quit the shit , and that she doesn't need to be a ho , to get into the show. The girl probably died of an overdose , so he dedicated that song to her.... now am I smart or what eh?

the same exact interpretation I had for this song.

I don't really know what this song says to me, but I don't think it is condoning drug use in any sense, I think instead, that it is satirizing the whole drug use part of life that some get pinned down to. Listen and Feel Music is the most important thing in life.
