Fred Jones was worn down
From caring for his often
Screaming and crying wife
During the day but
He couldn't sleep at night for fear that she
In a stupor from the drugs that didn't even
Ease the pain would set the house on blaze
With a cigarette.

there are lots of different interpretations of this song, i think it's about a man lossind his wife, but it is imagery, ban is loosing the big things he has worked his whole life for, they are dragging him down as well as themselves, and it hurts, so, eventually, the whole thing just sort of burns down!

This song is pretty deep I think. It's really beautiful but sad too. It's bittersweet. I love Ben Folds Five but I don't know what a lot of their songs mean. Thanks! ~~Tessa~~

There were a few mistakes made here, these are the real lyrics.

ease the pain would set the house ablaze with a cigarette.

It's a song about a man whose wife has mental and substance problems. Maybe she takes tranquilizers but it doesn't help their relationship or solve her problems. And of all of the drugs that she uses, the one that puts them all at risk are those damn cigarettes.

this song is about a man who's wife had a brain hemorrhage and became a completely different person. he was trying to figure out if he should get a divorce since she was essentially not the same person that he married.

Actually, this is the exact wording of a newspaper article Ben Folds clipped out of a newspaper. Notice how the lyrics aren't included, and they aren't even included in the official songbook, because they aren't his to print.

I made a mistake too. It's "during", not "durning".

    D'oh.

I think that this song is about a man whose wife is dieing of cancer, and who was on Chemo, but it wasn't helping. This is one of the saddest songs I know, and it alone is enough to convince me to not smoke.

Corpse I Fell In Love With
Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
