Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box Lyrics

After years of waiting
Nothing came
As your life flashed before your eyes
You realize

I'm a reasonable man, get off, get off, get off my case
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case

After years of waiting
After years of waiting
Nothing came
And you realize you're looking in, looking in the wrong place

I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case
get off my case
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case
get off my case

After years of waiting

You're a reasonable man
Get off our case, get off my case, get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case, get off my case, get off my case

I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case, get off my case, get off my case
I'm a reasonable man,
Get off my case, get off my case, get off my case

What this song means to be is about being disappointed in something or someone, whoever or whatever that may be after you've had so much faith but you don't want anyone to mess with you because you're feeling a little angry about it.

I agree that the speaker is upset, but I don't think it's because of a let down. “After years of waiting nothing came. As your life flashed before your eyes you realize I'm a reasonable man.” I think this is about a normal, reasonable man being judged by someone who is insane and, thus, unreasonable. The insane person waited for years for the reasonable man to become “reasonable” in their eyes, yet “nothing came”, nothing could change the reasonable man’s behavior. (And why should it? No reasonable man would sway to the whims of the insane.) Finally, the insane person...

first of all- this is one of my favourite radiohead songs. we are all waiting for somthing- wheather if it is a great job, having lots of money, or finding true love. we want to feel like we accomplished something in life. the song describes my biggest fear- gettin to a certain point and feel that i lived my life in vain. that there is no big award in the end.

I'd have to agree with Andrewonfire with this one. This song almost seems like a response or a follow-up to Karma Police; "I've given all I can, but we're still on the payroll" ties in with "I'm a reasonable man, get off my case."

It sounds like someone has spent years trying to do the right thing, put other people before themselves, etc. but in the end he's left wondering what it was all for. Likely he feels like he's been taken advantage of. However, perhaps his priorities were messed up - putting work life before family life despite his best intentions, for example - or maybe the fact that he's wondering where his reward is reveals his underlying selfishness. Either of these could explain the line "And you realize you're looking in the wrong place."

My Interpretation

I think this song is about wanting something or someone for a logn time, but then realizing you're never going to get it, and just giving up and moving on to something else.

Don't you think "I'm a reasonable man get off get off my case" is what the politicians are saying to the media and the ordinary people everyday? Do you think it's political? Maybe I'm just being stupid...

this song is about someone who has tried to be successful (whatever that may resemble to them) for a long enough time and has ben used and abused by people without complaining and finally is just tired of such treatment and also tired of not making it to that goal.

Haha, why can't this song just be about exactly what it seems to be about? Ie rush hour on the London Underground. Youre packed like sardines, and when he says to get off his case, he means briefcase. the person on the case doesnt need to be specified because theyre all reasonable people on a tube, but no one has a choice. Its really about that feeling that youre better than this, when youve been to uni and waited all your life for the good stuff to happen... only to end up packed in a tube train twice a day with strangers.

i think the band said publicly that the song was about rush hour traffic tho im not sure. ive always thought it was about how many people die in car accidents, and how the jaws of life cut a car so it can be opened like a can of sardines or is a reference to someting some existentialist said i think sartre about 'the most common human experience is waiting for a bus' and how most people always seem to be looking for a way to 'ride along' with someone elses ideals, or popular trends and activities, rather than finding the courage to live their own life and give their own life meaning. i'm also reminded of something i saw on the radiohead website that said " I live a wallpaper life "

Until you have not found your way tou are just paked like a sardine in a crushd tin box....... But most of the times youre scared in admitting that all youve done is wrong and you refuse the idea of choosing the right path, that seem so different from the one youve gone through up to now.....

"Blessed who chooses in his heart to go along the holy path".

Ok, this phrase is evidently christian, but what I mean is that you have to find the right place to look in.
