Million Dollar Question Lyrics

Was always waiting for the crush
The car to drive right through the shops
To call in sick and late at work
And take a holiday

Was always tangled up in knots
To keep myself from speaking up
But no one's listening anyway
Just trying to bribe me

And if it's all right, then what am I doing here?
And if it's all right, this place is gassed by fear
And if it's all right, I'll tell you, because you never understand
And if it's all right, I'll beg you, because I'm a begging kind of man

Today I wrote a bad cheque
Packed a bag and took a jet
But no one's looking anyway
I hope they miss me

I just think maybe I'm making a mistake

Yet another song written right after the band got signed, this one looks at the corporate mentality - fat bankrolls, big promises. "Million $ Question" also seems to reflect Thom's feelings of doubt at this time, closing with the sample that says, "I just think maybe I'm making a mistake." The track was a live favorite in 1992 and 1993.

I agree it's about the corporate mentality. Radiohead is probably on the receiving end of a lot of heat from record labels theyre not used to with this being their first album. Theyre probably sick of it. "To call in sick and late at work". It's probably mostly about not wanting record labels to control their music. "Was always tangled up in knots To keep myself from speaking up But no-one's listening anyway Just trying to bribe me.."

So they want to be indie "Packed a bag and took a jet"

But theyre not sure "I just think maybe I'm making a mistake."

I like the realism of the spite in this line "I hope they miss me"

Hope my interpretation helped.

its nice to hear some older rh stuff... the gitaur riff sounds annoyingly blink 182 or something... but its good, radiohead hadn't found the voice its belting out now..... and gosh i hate the people pretending to be thom yorke.. its freaking annoying

this is one of the songs off of pablo that i actually really like listening to. it doesn't have the same feel as their newer stuff, but it's still a fun and catchy song that's done pretty well, though it's obviously not as deep as the modern radiohead songs.

definitely not the same "feel" (especially now) but holy shit man.. same amount of deep. it's just in a different direction.
