Can't Get Away Lyrics

I miss laying on the concrete floors
I miss the way it was before
No one even knew me
Your eyes look right through me
And I'm taking off your clothes
And you bloom like a rose

Can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
Oh oh

Where the ocean meets the land
Is like the sliding of your hair
It prickles up my skin
I can feel the changing weather
I'm alone out on that coast
It sends memories of your ghost

Can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
Oh oh oh

One thing that turns me off
One thing that trips me up
One thing...
One thing you'll never know
One thing I cannot show
One thing I'm never going

I go and walk alone
I found it on my own
I
I can't find release and
..
Don't know when I can go home

Through the airport corridors
See the magazines in stores
If I see that face once more
You know I can't ignore it
And I recognize that pose
When you bloom like a rose

Can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
I can't get away from you
I can't get away from you

And with the government... another month away
Messed up places where we always stay
And it's funny that we always pick these spots
Even with the have and the have-nots
Sleeping on cots
Wishin' that I had some tater tots
And there's postcards written that I never send
The memories gone and won't come again
My the souls that find no peace
Still I look to you to find release, find release, find release

This song is unreal. I think its about a guy who goes travelling around the world, and while he's travelling all he can think about is the girl he left behind. He 's still in love with her and sees her everywhere i.e. "Where the ocean meets the land is like the sliding of your hand" The last part of the song is so poetic. I think he hallucinates, believing that the girl is with him "Funny how we always pick these spots" He knows that now he's seen the world the one thing he wanted all along was the girl.

@Nick Chopper all time favorite 3eb song. I have listen to it over and over again and I can just never get tired of it. The lyrics are just too good!

This is a good song, as all of 3eb songs. I love stephen he is so deep, how could somebody put simple ideas into so beautiful words? These song is about adoring someone, that you "can't get away" from. So when he/she is away the only thing you could think is of the way that person makes you feel inside, how he/she could mixed-up all of your internal emotions. Maybe the girl she is talking about just left and he don't know where to find her but if he sees her again he knows he will fall for her all over again. Nice song.

This one looks like another one of those Charlize Theron songs. Notice the use of the body blooming in both this son (Can't Get Away) and Forget Myself (the other infamous Charlize tune). It walks you through his rising up from obscurity where no one cared who he was to becoming famous and "gettin' the chicks". From there it tells of those lavish vacations to secluded areas that only the wealthy can afford. Its over now... in the arms of Vanessa Carlton, not quite a Charlize Theron, but he looks fondly (?) to those days the the red hot summer sun (these days, will not die).

Yup, yup.

I totally agree with Bugmenot it's clearly about Charlize Theron.

"I miss laying on the concrete floors I miss the way it was before No one even knew me Your eyes look right through me " When he was a nobody.

"Through the airport corridors See the magazines in stores If I see that face once more You know I can't ignore it " She was rising in popularity. Imagine having an ex-girlfriend where everywhere you look, her face is on TV or on the front of magazines. No wonder he can't get away from her.

I think this is probably my favorite off Out Of The Vein, it's just reminds me of summer, it's awesome.

@acoustic1 exactly. I always play this song when it starts getting warmer outside, and I can just roll the windows down and crank it up!

First off, this is an amazing cd, if you don't already own it, go out and buy it. This song kicks ass, and the lead singer guy is that writes all their stuff is lyrically talented.

I miss the sand on the concrete floor I miss the way it was before no one even knew me your eyes looked right through me And I’m taking off your clothes And you bloom like a rose

I can’t get away from you

And where the ocean meets the land Is like the sliding of your hand Prickles up my skin And I can feel the changing weather While alone along that coast Sense memories of your ghost

I can’t get away from you

Deliver me, shut me up Deliver me Give into me, Release Deliver me, deliver me

Through the airport corridors In magazines in stores If I see your face once more Cause you know I can’t ignore it I recognize that pose When you bloomed like a rose

I can’t get away from you

The jeep gets broke on a blown out road and I’m a tourist with a real light load Will the government hold one month away, missed our places where we always stay How come we always pick these spots Feeling like a have in the land of have nots, sleeping on cots Wishing that I had some tater-tots

And there’s postcards written I know I’ll never send The moment is gone and won’t come again I ride with souls who find no peace Still I look to you to find release

And the travelers return Through the panic doors Walking through the airport corridors Welcome back now from the foreign shores And I walk alone And the ghost that I carry is your Tiger shark is azure blue I hope the vision you had returns to you
