It's easier to run
Replacing this pain with something numb
It's so much easier to go
Than face all this pain here all alone

Something has been taken from deep inside of me
A secret I've kept locked away
No one can ever see
Wounds so deep they never show
They never go away
Like moving pictures in my head
For years and years they've played

If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could stand up and take the blame I would
If I could take all the shame to the grave I would
If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could stand up and take the blame I would
I would take all the shame to the grave

It's easier to run
Replacing this pain with something numb
It's so much easier to go
Than face all this pain here all alone

Sometimes I remember the darkness of my past
Bringing back these memories I wish I didn't have
Sometimes I think of letting go and never looking back
And never moving forward so there'd never be a past

If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could stand up and take the blame I would
If I could take all the shame to the grave I would
If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could stand up and take the blame I would
I would take all the shame to the grave

Just washing it aside
All of the helplessness inside
Pretending I don't feel misplaced
Is so much simpler than change

It's easier to run
Replacing this pain with something numb
It's so much easier to go
Than face all this pain here all alone

It's easier to run
If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made
It's easier to go
If I could change I would take back the pain I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made I would
If I could stand up and take the blame I would
I would take all the shame to the grave

To me, this song is about pushing away your past. Something horrible happened, so you "run" from it, instead of facing it and overcoming it. But in reality, all you want to do is erase it. Erase the guilt, pain, and everything else. But you can't. So you avoid it.

I think this song speaks to everybody thats why i love it because its vague enough anyone can relate. everyone has something in their past they hate that just wont go away, and it taunts them and prevents them from moving on. my friend used to do drugs and be in a gang and killed a few ppl and he just is so ashamed of his past and never speaks of it and drinks his depression away even though he changed the bodies of th eppl he killed has never stopped flashing back. This reminds me of him, sometimes it comes so strong he just needs to "run away" and yknow what whether u like it or not everyone likes running away my friend has everything but hates her parents and her mom for sceaming at her and she never comes home. we all have our coping methods and i believe this is what its talking about.

For me this song isn't only about getting depressed over you past and feeling pain/anger/guilt. In the song the lines "Sometimes I think of letting go And never looking back And never moving forward so There would never be a past" Show that the person is willing to commit suicide in order to never experience the same kind of pain they once did that by this day haunts them down.

i think this song is about having problems, with past, present, and future, etc =P but no one will listen to you, to help you with them, so you just repress the feelings you have, and just run away. like most lp songs, i love this song, and i can relate to it (well, at least my strange meanings to their songs =P).

Great song, I listen to it a lot when I'm stressed out. I kind of took it as almost hoping to just run away from life for awhile - the past, the present, the future. Just get away from the everyday frusterations for awhile - some stemming from the past. Just my thoughts!

I LOVE this song! One of my favorites that LP has done. I think we've all felt like this at one time or another.

Like Chipmunk777 said "no one will listen to you, to help you with them" instead of facing them, Its easier to run. To bury the memories. To change. To hate what you were. Having something terrerible happened to you. Be a funning stock. To have a bunch of shame. This song has so much mean. Sometime a feel the pain the inflicted in this song, these lyrics are so strong.

"If I could change, I would Take back the pain, I would Retrace every wrong move that I made, I would"

i love the way that the vocals build up on themselves during that part...

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
