Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.
Love can be a many splendored thing
Can't deny the joy it brings
A dozen roses, diamond rings
Dreams for sale and fairy tales
It'll make you hear a symphony
And you just want the world to see
But like a drug that makes you blind
It'll fool ya every time
The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
It's stronger than your pride
The trouble with love is
It doesn't care how fast you fall
And you can't refuse the call
See you've got no say at all
Now I was once a fool it's true
I played the game by all the rules
But now my world's a deeper blue
I'm sadder but I'm wiser too
I swore I'd never love again
I swore my heart would never mend
Said love wasn't worth the pain
But then I hear it call my name
The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
It's stronger than your pride
The trouble with love is
It doesn't care how fast you fall
And you can't refuse the call
See you've got no say at all
Every time I turn around
I think I've got it all figured out
My heart keeps callin'
And I keep on fallin'
Over and over again
The sad story always ends the same
Me standin' in the pourin' rain
It seems no matter what I do
It tears my heart in two
The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
It's stronger than your pride
The trouble with love is
It doesn't care how fast you fall
And you can't refuse the call
See you've got no say at all
Can't deny the joy it brings
A dozen roses, diamond rings

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
The Night We Met

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Why hasnt antnoe said anything. Its a great song and she has a great voice
this is a great song... its pretty self explanitory (the title says it all)... i love this song
well its a great song and im going to be singing it for Caberet night at my college. im really nervous because some of those notes get reallly high, but im gonna give it my all....
This is a good cover. She definitely can sing.
the title is not self explanitory compared to the lyrics, It is the total opposite. It shows that no matter how many people try talk about Love explain Love be prepared for what love holds and you can see this when she says " I swore my heart would never mend,Said love wasn't worth the pain, But then I hear it call my name" and "Every time I turn around, I think I've got it all figured out" But really you never can figure it out no matter how many times you have been hurt or watever the case.
So although people think the song is called The trouble with love is....
It's actually The trouble with Love is? as in nobody knows!
I disagree with this interpretation, "the trouble with love" is not a mystery, it's expressed in the chorus.

The trouble with love is that it hurts. Trying unsuccessfully to make a relationship work with someone you love hurts. The trouble with love is that it takes a hold of you, makes you vulnerable and leaves you at the mercy of another person.

She sings about how easy it is to be enticed by love, how easy it is to forget past heartbreak when you find yourself falling in love with someone new. Despite the intention to be cautious with her heart she feels powerless to stop herself getting deeply emotionally attached with someone, you don't have a say in who you fall in love with, when, or how fast.

Her experience of love always ends in heartbreak and pain, to the point where she doesn't want to fall in love anymore, but it's not up to her to choose.

The trouble with love is that it ends it heartbreak.
I don't care much for her, but I sure do love this on the Love Actually soundtrack...
I love this song. I wonder why it didn't get too popular...
sexywhelo has a good interpretation... :D

"Love can be a many splendored thing Can't deny the joy it brings A dozen roses, diamond rings Dreams for sale and fairy tales It'll make you hear a symphony And you just want the world to see But like a drug that makes you blind, It'll fool ya every time
The trouble with love is It can tear you up inside Make your heart believe a lie It's stronger than your pride The trouble with love is It doesn't care how fast you fall And you can't refuse the call See, you got no say at all"
A Great Song, In General..:D
It\'s about the hidden side of love that we don\'t hear about. It\'s like love expects us to be with our lovers 24/7, and when we\'re apart from them, it all goes to hell. Maybe if we didn\'t have these unwritten love rules (1) You must be together 24/7, 2) Everything is meaningless without it, 3)You must be like a puzzle with a few missing pieces when you gt your heart broken.
