I worry, I weigh three times my body
I worry, I throw my fear around
But this morning
There's a calm I can't explain
The rock candy's melted, only diamonds now remain, oh

By the time I recognize this moment
This moment will be gone
But I will bend the light pretending
That it somehow lingered on, well I got is oh

And I will wait to find
If this will last forever
And I will wait to find
If this will last forever
And I will pay no mind
When it won't and it won't because it can't
It just can't (It's not supposed to)

Was there a second of time I looked around?
Did I sail through or drop my anchor down?
Was anything enough to kiss the ground
And say I'm here now?
And she is here now, oh

So much wasted in the afternoon
So much sacred in the month of June
How 'bout you?

And I will wait to find
If this will last forever (yeah)
And I will wait to find
That it wont, and it won't and it won't
And I will pay no mind
Worried 'bout no rainy weather (yeah)
And I will waste no time
Remaining in our lives together

This song is basically a 4 minute tribute to that few second feeling of bliss one seldom gets. He said it's like when you walk outside, and everything just feels perfect. For that short moment, your life, your works, your happiness and your struggles all align and make perfect sense. Beautiful song.

John definatly sounds like he's reminiscing about his life. The first verse sounds like how things used to be bad and got better. and bringing that ecstacy connection in, his current life could be a state of ecstacy, not so much sexual but just unbelievable happiness. And it seems like he doesnt want it to end ("And I will wait to find /If this will last forever") it could be about fame, a relationship or both. I think he relates to him as a person by showing his outlook on life. i think the whole second verse says something about either always finding the good times or holding on to them. i'd say more towards holding on to them ("bending light"= illusion or possibly reflecting actually but illusion was my first thought) random note: my best friends gutair teacher knew John at Fairfield High when John was an underclassman. and my math teacher was a freshman/sophomore when John was a senior/junior.

i was at a show of john's lately..and before playing this song..he went into one of his talking to the audience moments..he was saying to everyone in the audience "that the summer was almost over..and i hope that everyone of you had a moment this summer where you had no worries on your mind and were just free..and in your mind all you heard was Ooh ooh ooh ooh!"..i cried..so basically this song means..he had a moment of freeness and no worries..but he knew that feeling wouldnt last forever

the video to this song is excellent - crisp and as easy going as the song itself. it's as refreshing as a cold shower on a hot day haha

I went to the John Mayer Concert like two nights ago. And he said the song was about when you first wake up in the morning, there are 5 seconds of bliss where you forget everything that's going on in your life--all the problems, and situations. And in those 5 seconds, it's like the best feeling in the world. He said how when you hear this song you're supposed to feel those 5 seconds of bliss in a longer amount of time and how all your problems they should go away. He said that as he's singing you should trust in him that everything will be better and just forget about your problems for those 5 minutes of those songs. =]

    My Opinion

Pretty neat how he tried to capture "that moment" all in one song. That piano melody in the beginning definitely makes you ponder :)

First off, John doesn't drink or do ecstacy or anything like that. any real John Mayer fan would know that.

Secondly, he did say that it's the song that describes him the most as a person, but it's still confusing as to what the actual lyrics mean and exactly how it describes him.
