Robert Plant is a slimy fuck
John Bonham man, he really sucked
Those greedy fuckers, those phoney shits
They made their money off idiots
I hate Led Zeppelin (x2)
12 dollar concerts were all the rage
They bought cocaine for Jimmy Page
"Stairway to Heaven" makes me see red
Bonzo's buried, only three more left
I hate Led Zeppelin (x2)

Zep has elitist fans? Punks are the most elitist snobs ever, and they can't play their instruments. I should know, I am friends with some punks, and know a bunch. Also, as punks, they have no right to say Bonham sucks, dumbasses.

I think they're just trying to get a rise out of people. Even if they weren't, why would you get bent out of shape over a song like this? Hahaha

    My Opinion

Everyone hates one band. I think this song was written for people who want to give their opinion on music taste, but it is always told to shut up by his close minded, mtv and radio manipulated friends. I hate led zeppelin too, maybe because they are so fucking overrated people who made money from writting songs when they were high. Or maybe i hate them for writting the slowest piece of shit garbage song ever written (ahem, stairway to heaven). This is my OWN opinion and i know some brainwashed led zeppelin fan will take as an offence. What i've done is almost the same as Screeching Weasel did, we only gave up our own opinion as no one has the right to shut us up. By the way, how on earth is led zeppelin heavy metal?

I love Screeching Weasel AND Led Zeppelin. With that said, this song is GREAT! All these celebrity worshiping, sycophantic Led Zep fans who are getting their panties in a bunch over this song need to calm the fuck down! I respect Screeching Weasel for talking shit about the one band nobody ever talks shit about. Also, TruthSpeaker\'s comment is ridiculously stupid for several reasons: 1. He states that Screeching Weasel is \"obviously some gay ass new band\" yet they have been around since the early 80\'s when punk music was anything but cool. The popular stuff when Screeching Weasel came out (and when this song was made) was uber lame hair metal, soulless new wave wankery and dance/pop. 2. He states \"how could u hate led zeppelin and play rock music? it doesn\'t fucking fit\" - This comment shows that TruthSpeaker has bought into the VH1 propaganda that Led Zeppelin is somehow the inspiration for every band on earth since they existed. This is simply not true. Bands like Screeching Weasel were inspired by bands like the Ramones, who were inspired by 50\'s era rock n roll like Chuck Berry and who\'s goal was to KILL overly self indulgeant arena rock like Led Zeppelin. Again, I like Led Zeppelin but quite frankly the bands that they inspired ALL SUCK! In the 80\'s the bands inspired by Led Zep were Poison and Warrant and Motley Crue and those bands sucked so bad it was laughable. Today we have more lame bands like Three Doors Down, Nickleback and Creed who I am willing to bet would list Led Zeppelin as an influence. 3. He uses \"rape victims\" as an insult. What kind of human being would use THAT as an insult? Him making that statement just shows that those who despise punk simply are not thoughtful or intelligent or socially aware to understand it and are therefor afraid of it. 4. He played right into Screeching Weasel\'s hands by getting so sensitive about it. Bands shouldn\'t take themselves so seriously and neither should their fans. Getting this upset about somebody having a different opinion than you about a band can only be explained by one thing: CELEBRITY WORSHIP! Every Led Zep fan who gets angry over this song is no different than a 15 year old girl who gets mad if people insult her idol\'s Britney and Paris. There is a song called \"Joe Queer Sucks\" by the punk band Darlington that is about how they hate Joe Queer of the Queers and I like the song a lot and find it funny even though I love the Queers. Bottom line: everybody PLEASE lighten up and quit taking everything so seriously!

Hey, I'm a big Zep fan and I can chuckle at this one. It's just to get a rise out of people. Saying "Bonham sucks" is too over the top to be anything but a deliberate prod. Even if you hate the genre, anyone who's spent any time listening to the guy knows he's an unreal force. Yes, Led can seem pretentious, and they were pretty pompous in their later years, but it's like calling Bob Dylan a hack. Nobody with a pair of ears and an ounce of taste should take either attack seriously.

Anyway, whoever said every band influenced since Led sucks... I've wondered that myself. What's the deal? There's so damn much to be taken from them, yet nobody comes close. Most just make a mockery of rock. (Although we do have Dave Grohl, no matter what your opinion of Foo is.)

oh, a punk song. (least I think it is). I think their hate is aimed in the wrong direction, it should be towards Led Zeppelin's ignorant elitist fans.

So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness". The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns) There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.

Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
