Jesus Walks Lyrics
We at war with terrorism, racism, but most of all we at war with ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me with me with me [fades]
Young & Restless
Where restless Niggaz might snatch your necklace
And next these Niggaz might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these Niggaz who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of Chi where death is
Top floor, the view alone will leave you breathless [breathes in]
Try to catch it [breathes in] It's kind of hard
Getting choked by detectives yeah, yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "We eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
Huh? Y’all eat pieces of shit? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke, rental car from Avis
My momma used to say “Only Jesus can save us”
Well momma, I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone ‘til November I got packs to move I Hope
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long
To the victims of Welfare, for we living in hell here - Hell yeah (Jesus Walks with them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know He hear me when my feet get weary
Cause we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models, we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about His facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dawg, radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played, Huh?
Well if this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out:
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks)
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now.....
[fade]

i'm agnostic, but this song is really powerful. when you hear this song, you can't help but want to listen to it, no matter what religious denomination you are, the title itself makes you think and gets you interested. the things that kanye has to say about his relationship with Jesus, and society's relationship with religion, are so right on. lyrically, the song is super deep, especially when he gets into how religious songs rarely ever get any clout in society (ironically, since american society seems to be getting more "faith-based" as ever)...especially when he talks about how radio stations will allow "guns, sex, lies, and videotapes" but rarely positive influences on the airwaves. the beat, aside from the lyrics, is tight.
@saintnate Agree with your sentiments. Ironic isn't it that in a fairly religious country such as the USA sex and violence still sell so well.

Dude... I totally agree.. I'm an atheist, but this is definately one of my favorite tracks on the cd. By far one of the most powerful songs on the cd. There's not really much else to say, I think saintnate said everything I feel about this song.

"I ain't here to argue about his facial features Or here to convert atheists into believers I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus"

Im also agnostic, but I love the song. Very powerful, very clear.

epic & powerful. i just heard this song last night and it gave me chills. i'm also agnostic but you're right, it doesn't matter what religion you are. this song is greatness.

They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh this is so true, and it hurts me that thats the way it is, we need to change this!

I completely agree with pretty much everybody. Kanye rocks in this one.'nuff said.

In Kanye's part 2 music video, as well as the original one, he himself as Christ. In his song "Otis" he sings this lyric I made "Jesus Walks" I'm never going to hell." Mistakenly, just because you make a song "promoting" Jesus doesn't mean that will save you from Hell. Jesus says in John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Believing in Jesus with "all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark 12) is the most important commandment, along with loving your neighbor, and what saves you is Rom. 5:1, "therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ". Please do not let any rapper or anything else that is not of the Bible tell you anything different. There is only one way to Heaven and thats through Christ and faith.
Especially when you later go back and say it was just an attempt to get out of going to hell. Don't you think that it's kind of an un written rule not to betray god like that? I'm pretty sure there's no rule in the bible about that but...

We think of god too much as a set of laws, and not as a person that loves us.
