Old School Hollywood Lyrics
OLD SCHOOL HOLLYWOOD BASEBALL!
Tony Danza cuts in line
(Old school Hollywood,
Washed up Hollywood)
Standing in the sun
I'm wasting my time
(Old school Hollywood,
Washed up Hollywood)
Jack Gilardi's ten feet tall
Old school Hollywood baseball
Me and Frankie Avalon
Washed up Hollywood
Old School Hollywood
Washed up Hollywood
(Old school Hollywood,
Washed up Hollywood)
Standing in the sun
I'm about to melt
(Old school Hollywood,
Washed up Hollywood)
Jack Gilardii's ten feet tall
Old school Hollywood baseball
Me and Frankie Avalon
Washed up Hollywood
Old School Hollywood
Washed up Hollywood
Jack Gilardi's ten feet tall
Old school Hollywood baseball
Me and Frankie Avalon
Washed up Hollywood
Old School Hollywood
Washed up Hollywood x4

I hate people that assume just because it's an SOAD song it has a deeper meaning. Daron said it's about a celebrity baseball game he went to, hence all the celebrity names, Tony Danza, Frankie Avalon. It has no deep meaning, it's simply about Old School Hollywood Baseball.
@Shattering exactly man. I even saw it on an extra off a concert DVD for the tour. He said it's based on a game he was invited to by Jack Gilardi to take part in with these other washed up celebrities. He said that tony Danza was kind of an asshole and would actually do things like cut in line. Not all System songs have some deep political or spiritual meaning or are they all social commentary pieces. People are reading into this song way too much.

I never liekd system until i herd this song!

Okay, maybe this song is about Daron's experiences, but I read into it a different way:
Old school... Hollywood... Baseball... OLD SCHOOL HOLLYWOOD BASEBALL! -from the kid who wants to get famous view, it's really all a game, going to Hollywood, getting rich... like how Baseball's a game
Tony Danza cuts in line (Old school Hollywood, Washed up Hollywood) -it must be easy and fast tog get into Hollywood (cuts in line, so he got there faster)
Standing in the sun I'm wasting my time (Old school Hollywood, Washed up Hollywood) -you're wasting your time going to Hollywood to get famous, because you'll just end up like most everyone else who goes there... working in a music store. (as Daron Malakian put it)
Old school Hollywood baseball Jack Gilardi's ten feet tall -people go to hollywood and get famous (at least that's how the media portrays it)
Old school Hollywood baseball Me and Frankie Avalon -people who go to Hollywood will be right up there with the greatest celebrities ever
Standing in the sun I'm about to melt (Old school Hollywood, Washed up Hollywood) -you'll only fall apart if you go to Hollywood, because almost no one makes it.
I have no clue what they mean by "Hey man don't you touch my belt," so I didn't include that.
Anyway, that's just one way of looking at it... the way I look at it!
Aswering the part of "Hey man don't you touch my belt" Tony Danza was a professional boxer between 1976 and 1979.

Gilardi is an old school Hollywood talent agent to a bunch of has-been stars and he created the Hollywood All-Stars charity baseball game at Dodger Stadium that Daron refers to in the song. thats probably why u cant find him on google. and your right about frankie avalon. check out the movie "stoned age" they keep visiting his house.he was a teen idol that did a dance show or something.

I just watched a DVD extra on System of a Downs concert DVD for Hypnotize and Mesmerize and he says that the song is very simple. Daron was invited to a celebrity baseball game with washed up celebs hosted by Jack Gilardi. He remarked that Tony Danza was kind of an asshole who would do things like cut in line. He said he had no deeper meaning whilst writing these lyrics.

great song and great new sound for system of a down its interesting

love the synth at the start, as the above said, great new style. Think its about a sureal experience at a baseball game or something!

"Old school Hollywood baseball Jack Gelardi's ten feet tall Old school Hollywood baseball Me and Frankie Avalon"
Jack Gelardi turns up NOTHING on google or wikipedia, but Frankie Avalon was a "teen idol" in the 50's as well as a film actor and singer.
Now, what the hell does that have to do with this song?
Jack Gilardi. Made a lot of shit.
Jack Gilardi. Made a lot of shit.

the lyrics are pretty straightforward and short (like radio/video) but I still don't understand what it means.
