O Green World Lyrics
Don’t desert me now
Bring me back to Fallen Town
Where someone’s still alive
When no one needs the heart of me and I’m looking out
Somewhere I've never been before
Don’t desert me now
Made of you and you of me
But where are we?
Oh no
From the darkest stars that force you
Down when you’re in first.
Does it seem so little to you?
You know me too
You know me too
Hope sex and drugs rust into my self, holy.
It feels holy.
It’s fun when you’re the father and in the place you were.

I think this is a big ironic song.
The song is called O Green World, but the way the music plays as well as the lyrics, suggest nothing but technology and how its taking over.
"Bring me back to fallen town. Where someone is still alive" is like saying, take me back to the country/farmlands b/c the city streets run rampant with soulless zombies.
"I'm made of you and you of me. But where are we?" is like saying how technology is connected with our lives but it'll never be the same as human contact
"Sells to lie. Phone to talk...Cause it seems so little to you". is like talking about how commercialism ruins us. This particular stanza makes me think of big business and really rich people who can lie and make huge profits off the crap they sell. Phones w/ talk you stars are like cellphones. Cause it seems so little to you i think refers to life w/o technology.
"but now you're in love, you know..I hope sex and drugs rust into myself, holy. It feels holy...it feels like you're with your father in the place you lave..." is saying how technology has finally become a part of us. Maybe the greatest human contact, sex or even drugs will some how end up as part of technology. It feels holy is like saying, it feels like we're in heaven just b/c we have all of our stuff.
At least, thats what I'm thinking.
Ok first of all I think that the line about "fallen town" meens he wants to meat someone who's alive and not a "souless zombie" in the city. Second of all the line "made of you and you of me but where are we" means that earth is nothing without us (organisms in gen.) And we are nothing without it but then the universe is so big, dos it count for anything ? And the line sell to lie I think is "cells to life , from the darkest stars".

Last thing is the last few lines I think are "but still if only" like he's trying to say something but then dosnt bother trying

O green world, Don't desert me now Bring me back to fallen town Where someone is still alive
Icon soul Something new in this When no one needs to haunt me and I'm Looking out to somewhere I've never been before (been before...)
O green world, You don't deserve me now I'm made of you and you of me But where are we?
On ourselves to lie From the darkest stars I suppose you ('re) Down when you're in fast Does it seem so little to you?
I know you now I know you know me too You know, me too I hope sex and rust, lust into my self, only That self only
That's far when you're in the far in the place you were

This is about war and ENVIRONMENTALISTS. "O green world, don't desert me now" is saying that this was once a beautiful green world until WAR and POLLUTION took over and destroyed it. Not about drugs, commercialism, or anything else.

Nice interpretation RTBRAND1, I agree with you.. Even I can't make sense of what 2D is saying sometimes, but you've done a really good job of it. Props to you.

I rather like your interpretation, but when I first read this, the impression I got was this.
O green world, Don't desert me now Bring me back to fallen town Where someone is still alive Fighting for something new in this When no one needs the heart of me and I'll Get out somewhere other than me before...
Again, it was reminescent of a war theme. It sounds a lot like what I think of other songs, about a soldier or something. I thought maybe he was looking for life in the rubble. I felt like he felt like a soulless pawn in a bigger game, fighting for something he didn't believe in. And at the end, he turned to drugs to rid himself of his angst. In the middle, he felt insignificant against such a big world.
Whatever... I like yours. It works better, I think.

I think i mostly agree with RTBRAND1.
i think this song is more about commercialism than technology though.
("Bring me back to fallen town Where someone is still alive") So he wants to go back to the good old days where people are just people without all the commercialism and such.
("Fighting for something new in this When no one needs the heart of me") hes saying that hes fighting for change but no one cares about wut he thinks and he really has no way out
("I'm made of you and you of me") Is how commercialism and i guess technology have become a part of us and wut good has it done us ("But where are we?")
And finally i guess he realizes in the that there is no fighting it and that it all feelz good (like the posessions, sex, drugs, etc. that the media has brainwashed us to want and like) and he's given up and is now hoping that it rusts into his being because its like a cult and it feels holy.

i think this is another war related song...
O green world, Don't desert me now Bring me back to fallen town Where someone is still alive
he's died fighting, and hes wishing he could come back and be with those still living
Fighting for something new in this When no one needs the heart of me and I'll Get out somewhere other than me before...
he's been fighting for something that wasnt needed, and he gave his life for it (getting out somewhere other than the way he came in, like a coffin, or something relating to the fact he's died
O green world Don't deserve me now I'm made of you and you of me But where are we? Oh no
hes dead, and decomposing, and is now part of the earth. but he feels guilty over the lives he's taken, and feels like he doesnt deserve to return to the earth
Sells to lie Phone with talk, you stars Suppose you Down when you're in fast Cause it seems so little to you
we have so much, but think so little of it, and try to push it on others
But now you're in love, you know You know, me too You know, me too I hope sex and drugs rust into my self, holy
he's hoping that people are free to do what they want, when years from now, theyre on the land comprised partially of his decayed body (complete guess... im not sure on this one really...)
It feels holy It feels like you're with your father in the place you love.
and now he's in heaven?

Actually, I believe the war interpretation, because it comes after kids with guns and fits with the end of days/rapture/armageddon theme, as well as, the Iraq war interpretation.
The former is probably about the war preceding the rapture and the latter is talking about how the soldiers stationed in Iraq feel that the war is meaningless as they lose men at a consistent rate.

God damn...this is the best song to listen to when you're high. Hell, ANY Gorillaz song is the best ever when you're high...
