Unsaid Lyrics

Not that you're the one
Not to say I'm right
Not to say today
And not to say a thing tonight

But suffice it to say
We're leaving things unsaid
We sing ourselves to sleep
Watching the day lie down instead

And we are leaving some things unsaid
And we are breathing deeper instead

We're both pretty sure
Neither one can tell
We seem difficult
What we got is hard as hell

A hundred thousand words
Could not quite explain
So I walk you to your car
And we can talk it out in the rain

And we are leaving some things unsaid
And we are breathing deeper instead
And we are leaving some things unsaid

I can sing myself to sleep
No more

Not that you're the one
Not to say I'm right
Not to say today
And not to say a thing tonight

"We're both pretty sure Neither one can tell.."

it's like they give hints that they like each other and they understand the clues, only that i think these 2 people never really seem to find time to actually talk through it [probably they're not yet ready or they're scared of whatever might happen next]

"... We seem difficult What we got is hard as hell"

it seems that not being honest to each other is the safest thing to do, but at the same time they find it really hard and painful to wait for someone to speak up

"Not that you're the one Not to say I'm right Not to say today And not to say a thing tonight"

the "confrontation" gets shrugged off each time they meet or talk.. they always put it off until the next time they see each other [or at least that's how i see it]

"And we are leaving some things unsaid And we are breathing deeper instead"

these 2 keep giving off clues [probably more of the subliminal] that they like each other, but they never really confirm it as in "verbally" with the exact words

"We sing ourselves to sleep Watching the day lie down instead"

maybe "sing ourselves to sleep" means that when they're together, they try not to make the most out of the chance to finally confess, thinking that making a move would leave things in a rather [ugly] unexpected state.. so they end up feeling discontented after a day ends that they're around each other

this song was done beautifully by the fray.. i think the mood set by this song magnifies its meaning of desperation for the truth and the unknown.. idk, i see it revolving more of around the "friends [or special friends] zone" hehe

This song is the story of my love life.

Very simple...a relationship that ended with everything left up in the air. Leaving everything just as it was so one day there is a reason to go back. By leaving everything "unsaid" it lets there not be a real goodbye and a way to one day pick up where everything left off. "Not to say today" is also coming back to this notion of the future and the ability of it not being over forever, which is the safest way to end things so you never actually have to admit that it's really over.

I really think Jules*** is the one who has nailed this song meaning. Obviously, lyrics can mean anything to anyone, but I truly think this song was written about two people once deeply in love who were forced to end a relationship due to distance or some other factor. They still love each other, but the timing, distance, or whatever the main factor is so wrong that the relationship doesn't make sense. Separately, they both feel pretty sure that the other person is "the one". They know one another well enough to acknowledge the common...

I agree with you Jules this song is called "Unsaid" for a reason. I feel that it's about a couple that are broken up and one of them is desperately singing out to that other person, hey wait we left some things unsaid. I can't move on because my hearts so heavy and I can't forget about this one person because they feel that there are somethings that were left unsaid. That's just my opinion though, I feel it relates to me and my ex so much. He broke it off and we just left some things unsaid, so I'm...

jbomb i think your about 98% right except at the end Whoever is singing it is going to say something and tell the person they like them

I can sing myself to sleep No more

Not that you're the one Not to say I'm right Not to say today And not to say a thing tonight

see how it says no more to all of that

But i relate to this song 100% right now...
