Fade Together Lyrics

So far away
Come on I'll take you far away
Let's get away
Come on let's make a get away

Once you have loved someone this much
you doubt it could fade
despite how much you'd like it to
God how you'd like it, you'd like it to fade

Let's fade together
Let's fade forever
Let's fade together
Let's fade forever
Let's fade together

If we get away
You know we might just stay away
So stay awake
Why the hell should I stay awake?
When you're far away
Oh god you are so far away

I looked at your wall
Saw that old passport photograph
I look like I've just jumped the Berlin Wall
Berlin I love you
I'm starting to fade

Let's fade together
Let's fade forever
Let's fade together
Let's fade forever
Let's fade together
Let's fade forever
Let's fade together

'Berlin I love you,' is the most beautiful thing you could sing in a love song. And I personally hate love songs. But this one is good enough to get past my cruel, stony heart. That's talent.

@foreign_hand To me the lyrics:

I looked at your wall Saw that old passport photograph I look like I've just jumped the Berlin Wall Berlin I love you I'm starting to fade

Talk about how he's just jumped on the otherside of love for the other person and "berlin, I love you" is him realizing that he enjoys the feeling that he once dreaded.

Love this song.

Pretty heart wrenching where he says:

When you're far away Oh god you are so far away

On the last verse he trails off and it kills.

"Why is 'Berlin I love you' the most beautiful thing you can sing in a love song?"

Just because. It's the way it sounds. Probably partially in the consonance of the letter 'L' in "Berlin" and "love" and the fact that on it's own I find "Berlin" to be a very euphonic word. Sometimes you shouldn't try to understand songs and just accept it.

I love the end of the track, when you hear the dawn chorus in the Scottish hills. Lovely.

Its a romantic song, about that you love someone so much you want to take them into your own world and ''Fade together.'' I think the Berlin wall reference is saying that he loves her face as it looks so happy in the passport photograph.

Actually, I think it's about a dying relationship "fading". This in turn makes him lose his light and fade too. In his desoeration to reunite them as they were, he asks her to go through it with him.

It speaks to me as a great Break-up song. Love not Fading even though you really want it to, to move on.

Let's fade together is like saying "you're probably going through these emotions just as I am" to the other half of your recently split relationship.

The feelings fade. as far as the berlin wall? If you look at what people had to go through to get from east to west berlin when East was communist, you can say a break-up is a lot like that emotionally. or that "She" is really hard to get over, like the Berlin wall was.

Brilliant song/lyrics! :) My first thought is that this lyric is about forgeting some old love..and how hard it could be! Once you've almost left her/him behind you, something comes up that reminds you again...and you're back on the first page!

I agree with you on that.

Ummm I don't get the whole Berlin Wall reference. Why is 'Berlin I love you' the most beautiful thing you can sing in a love song?

I absolutely love this song. It's so beautiful and the vocals and piano are simply gorgeous.

ITs just about how hard it is to get over a deep relationship "once you have loved someone this much you doubt it could fade despite how much you'd like it to" And since it's so hard he finds himself beign reminded of the love and thinking it would be easier with her- so its pretty bitter sweet. I find a lot of this album is about how its hard moving on because when you feel strongly for someone it just doesn't go away - even if you'd want to sleep it off (sleep references and drug references in many of hte songs) and no matter how you WISH the fading of previous emotions would be easier.
