Tentative Lyrics
Bombs overtaken by the signs of the light,
The bombs are falling overhead with no sight,
While you talking all detached, so tell us...
To the bottom?
Do you hear us?
We are rotting...
In a spiral to the ground.
No one,
No one's gonna save us now!
The masked comforts to delusional,
They're all in fright,
The true believer's head was bathed in sunlight,
While you are walking all detached, so tell us...
To the bottom?
Do you hear us?
We are rotting...
In a spiral to the ground.
No one,
No one's gonna save us now!
Not even God...
No one saved us,
No one's gonna save us...
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Where do you expect them to go when the bombs fall?
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right,
The bombs are falling overhead with no sight,
While you are talking all detached, detached, detached, detached, detached.
In a spiral to the ground,
No one,
No one's gonna save us now...
(Not even God)
No one saved us...
No one saved us...
No one saved us...
No one's gonna save us now...

"'Superstition taking all of us for a ride Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right The bombs are falling overhead with no sight While you are talking all detached, detached, detached, detached, detached"
I think the "superstition" and "the right" is our current adminstration that has "good morals" and how they tricked us into allowing them to drop bombs on other people(Iraq).
We never ever had any bombs dropped on us so we are detached and completely unfamiliar with what bombing a country really means. Heck we still use cluster bombs. The closest thing we had to a bombing was 9-11 and we panicked incredibly with such suprise. When to people in Iraq and in bombed countries they understand really what bombing is.
We only had a tiny taste of what it is from 9-11. Makes us look like a bunch of pansies when we panicked. Over 100,000 Iraqis are dead since we invaded. We are so not used to War that we are completely detached to what it actualyl means when our government decides to declare war and "bomb" another country.
Also because we use jets to drop bombs the pilots have no idea waht kind of carnage they create. To them it's just video game really. They don't see the kids with missing limbs and shrapnel stuck in their faces. They don't see the pregnant women giving birth to dead children because fell down when the bombs hit.
Our fucking media helps detach us even more from what bombing is by saying "we use smart bombs". I'm just giong to say that the massacred people labeled as "collateral damage" sure didn't blow themselves up.
"Ceremonies have killed religions for they provide The masked comforts to delusionals, they're all in fright The true believer's head was bathed in sunlight While you are walking all detached, so tell us"
I think he's sayign that our religion in this country has become so dillusional and gives us "masked comforts". It's a crock when you see these supposed "good christian" and "morally sound" corporate leaders and politicians praying.
It's saying that we drop bombs on the true believers. The ones that trully believe that God or Allah etc are the ones that realize they aren't going to be saved by their god as the "morally right conservatives" rain firey death from above on them.
Also the "Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?" is such powerful anti-war lyrics.

I think this song is about the truth of corruption. We live in a world where no one is accepted for how they feel or what they believe in. Daron seems to be hinting on the fact that God is most likely sickened by the thought that we take other people's belief and, literally, attack them in physical ways. That's how wars start. It's all arguments with origin over beliefs of the unknown, and it's messed up in countless ways. War is a joke, and there's no point to it. Go ahead and say what you want, but it NEVER does anything to benefit society in any way. It just makes people develop more hatred towards one another, eventually leading to the inevitable outcome of war. Iraq never did anything to us, and yet we thrive on the fact that our society differs from them, and we therefore bomb them. Why?

Hey haiduc and to the rest of the people, the correct lyrics are these:
Superstition taking all of us for a ride Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right The bombs are falling overhead with no sight While you are talking all detached, so tell us
Where you going To the bottom Do you hear us We are rotting
We're going down in a spiral to the ground No one, no one's gonna save us now
Ceremonies have killed religions for they provide The masked comforts to delusionals, they're all in fright The true believer's head was bathed in sunlight While you are walking all detached, so tell us
Where you going To the bottom Do you hear us We are rotting
We're going down in a spiral to the ground No one, no one's gonna save us now Not even God, no one saved us No one's gonna save us
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall? Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall? Where do you expect them to go when the bombs fall? Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
Superstition taking all of us for a ride Mimes overtaken by the signs of the Right The bombs are falling overhead with no sight While you are talking all detached, detached, detached, detached, detached
Going down, in a spiral to the ground No one, no one's gonna save us now Not even God, no one saved us, no one saved us No one saved us, no one's gonna save us now
Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
As to the meaining of this song i still can't exactly say except that it sounds like we are doomed to being killed by bombs. One reason is that it say's" Where do you expect us to go WHEN the bombs fall" and " no one's gonna save us nowNot EVEN God". I like how It says "were going down in a spiral to the ground" because that what you would see looking down on a missile heading to the ground. It's only a matter of time before it hits the ground and explodes!

I think it's from the point of view of a person we are at war against (probably in Iraq, but could be other wars). It's about the US coming in and bombing them and destroying their homes and how the people there can't do much about it.

I love this song. It is horrifyingly beautiful. I agree with kmk_natasha that the song is about a group of people being air bombed with nowhere to go. It is quite the nightmare.
The question of God from the perspective of the bomb victim is most interesting. The detachment of the bomber shows the casual attitude that people here discuss bombings. An excellent and very insightful song.
"Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?" That is the best lyric I have heard in a war protest song ever.

yeah I agree, but to be honest i think the bombing of pearl harbor was way worse than 9-11, so i think the U.S has had a taste of a bombing, but that dosen't even come close to the bombing of Japan.

yea i think the song is by system's POV. its sayin by goin to war, were not gunna win, were only pissin terrorists off more and its sayin, so when the terrorists r sick of it and they come after us, where do u expect us to go when the bombs fall? because think about it, if ur city started getting bombed what would be the first thing on ur mind other than HOLY HELL! mine would be, where in the hell am i supposed to go?

As far as point of view, both Tentative and Attack seem to be System placing themselves in the point of view and position of those who they are singing about. In Attack, it's as if System is placing themselves in the seats of those who choose to start wars ("We attack!") And in Tentative, you hear "Where do you expect US to go when the bombs fall?" Someone said it's as if the band is placing themselves in the spot of people in a country the USA is bombing, and that is definitely what I see too.
Honestly, such a simple question could never be answered by those who start these wars: Where do you expect them to go when the bombs fall? ...Where?
