And she pours herself another cup of coffee
As she contemplates the stain across the wall
and it's in between the cleaning and the washing
That's when looking back's
The hardest part of all

And she always did her best to try and please him
While he always did his best to make her cry
And she got down on her knees to stop him leaving
But he always knew one day he'd say goodbye

Where are your friends
Where are your children
Is this your house
Is this your home
Does nothing ever last forever
Does everybody sleep alone

And he tears the business tags from his old suitcase
As he packs away the pieces of his life
They all love him but they always try to change him
That's what happens when a girl becomes a wife

And she pours herself another cup of coffee
As the pictures leave a clean space on the wall
and it's in between the leaving and the loving
That's when looking back's
The hardest part of all

Where are your friends
Where are your children
Is this your house
Is this your home
Does nothing ever last forever
Does everybody sleep alone

Don't look back
Don't give up
Pour yourself another cup

This one deals with several matters concerning couples but more specific, it's about

    1) A man who got involved with a girl he didn't actually love and married her -probably soon after- because it seemed the "proper" thing to do, at that time.

After several years he felt trapped in his everyday life and when he realised that people in his invironment (wife, family, friends & colleagues) couldn't understand his needs, he tried to change his life by going away, leaving just empty spaces in the life of a woman that still loved him...

    Sign: probably Aquarius

    2) A woman who really loved this man and devoted her life to him without -unfortunately- asking something in return (not even to be loved by him). She didn't realise that he didn't love her back. She was also probably responsible for the loss of the erotic flame in their relationship (he was probably her first lover or she was mistreated by her former lover). She let her housewife routine lead her into misery and self pity... but he never did something to reverse this situation. She was once probably "excellent" material for "The Love Of Her Life" but it wasn't him. She has actually herself to blame for believing his lies and not seing through him.

    Sign: probably Cancer or Pisces

Though the songs ending goes from sad memories to hope, I would rather say:

What a waste of time, what a waste of Life!

PS This song could actually be a sequel of the 1979 song "The Worker" by "Fisher-Z"
