Conversations with my thirteen year old self
Conversations with my thirteen year old self

You're angry
I know this
The world couldn't care less
You're lonely

I feel this
And you wish you were the best
No teachers
Or guidance

And you always walk alone
You're crying
At night when
Nobody else is home

Come over here and let me hold your hand and hug you darling
I promise you that it won't always feel this bad
There are so many things I want to say to you
You're the girl I used to be
You little heartbroken thirteen year old me

You're laughing
But you're hiding
God I know that trick too well
You forget

That I've been you
And now I'm just the shell
I promise
I love you and

Everything will work out fine
Don't try to
Grow up yet
Oh just give it some time

The pain you feel is real you're not asleep but it's a nightmare
But you can wake up anytime
Oh don't lose your passion or the fighter that's inside of you
You're the girl I used to be
The pissed off complicated thirteen year old me

Conversations with my thirteen year old self
Conversations with my thirteen year old self

Until we meet again
Oh I wish you well oh
I wish you well
Little girl

Until we meet again
Oh
I wish you well
Little girl

I wish you well
Until we meet again
My little thirteen year old me

It just such a relateable song for so many people. The lyrics speak to me in such a profound way, i think Pink is an amazin artist, she takes her experiences and writes about them, Its fantastic because its tellin us that is ok to feel down and hurt and angry. It'll pass.

I love how Pink sings about her own experiences and shares them with people that may have had the same experience. She also sings about her beliefs and that is rare in the rock/pop genre. I love Pink!! This song speaks to those who have felt how she describes her life at 13 and it's letting them know that she knows how they feel and that it'll be ok in the end.

I heard the Song once, nothing special Heard it twice, didn't like it much Heard it the third time, and listened to the lyrics, and it just connected. I could Imagine an older me, coming up to me, and just telling me all this. I feel this way, every single lyric, and it helps, with everything. I especially love the lyric You're laughing But you're hiding God I know that trick too well as that is what I do, smile and laugh, even though you are hating every moment of it...

my friend gave me her ipod one day and i came across the song we were on a school trip and when i listend to it i was near tears when i got home i instantly downloaded it every single lyric to me means so much to me then and still now ,pink is an amazing person for writing this song and without it i don't know how i would have got though it without her she is like the big sister i never had.I have spent many times alone listening to this song in floods of tears but with hope that it was'nt just me going though this hard time. the line your laughing but your hiding was one of the best lines for me as that was what i did and still do.one of the most powerful sounds ever written. to be honest its actally a postive song as she is saying that she is know the shell meaning you will get through this and it will make you a stronger person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
