Bangers + Mash Lyrics
You bit me, bit me, and now I want more
I'm kicking out the wall
It's all been sent to the Conger eel
The bangers and the mash
The negatives for cash
You're either in the club, baby, or you're not
Whatever gets you off
Chief of police or vice-chancellor
Lord and lady, blah blah
The vicar and the judge
You're all dancing to my little red book
I got the poison, poison, and now I want more
Then it is a long drop
The pyramid is power
We're changing by the hour
If you are on the top
Then it is a long drop
If you stare into the dark
The black will stare back
Back into your soul
The cheque came through
The cheque, cheque, cheque
I'm taking you down
I'm taking you down
When I go down
I'm taking you down
I'm taking you down
I'm standing in the hall
I'm kicking out the wall
Poison, I got the poison, I got the poison now
I got the poison

Franky I agree with most of your changes but would radiohead really say "nigger"

RdeC is right, it's about nightlife relationships for/cause of political power. John Prescott is now referred as Lord Prescott, maybe the meaning behind "Lord and lady, blah blah".
and eatenbytheworms, dancing to my little red book means (pretending) to enjoy his songs (without understanding). As "Red book" refers to CD standard of audio disks.

Drugs?! I think you're way off with that.
Here's a clue: On the second night at Blackpool, Thom Yorke said this was about "getting caught with your pants down", particularly polticians - referring to John Prescott and his affair with a secretary at the time.

I agree that it is referecing government and statewide corruption. Again, Radiohead's views on the state and those in current power is always described in this fashion. The very first song on this album is of a similar thread.
The poison is that taste, and once people get a taste for that power, it corrupts. The little red book is a refernce to Red Book of Mao's Communist regiem as stated by steinbeckthepearl. THerefore, everyone is dancing to the words of the ruler. The ruler who is atop the pyramid, and will be taken down eventually. The whole system will crumble due to individual accountability. Again, "similar to down is the new up".

I'm gonna have to say thats one of the most absurd interpretations I've ever heard. Just because the song is sexy, doesn't mean its about sex. I feel like Radiohead is definitely above the level of writing about such paltry and simple subjects. but, to each their own.
at least, its not about thom having sex.
It can be taken to mean that power these days is derived from who you're sleeping with, or by being 'in' with whoever is 'sexy' at the right time. Sex is money. Money is power. Power is sexy.
It's about revenge. You bit me, I've got the Poison. I'm taking you down with me. Like a virus. Poison can feel good, empowering.... Feed you. Ever hate anyone but like it?

It's political as well, that's given. Pyramid. Long fall from the top. For those that claw their way to the top, fucking everyone and everything along the way. Then....AHHHHHHAAAHHHH!!! plop. There goes another one. They do do this to themselves as well. I like what someone said about it being about getting caught with your pants down. Misrepresentation, appealing to the masses......something musicians do sometimes as well......hmmm......

Rises and falls from power, climbing ladders, stepping on fingers with razor blade heels, kissing ass, paying the price, owning, being owned. Cutting throats.
It's not about sex.
I don't think Thom is going to take down the Government, but it's OK to dream. It's the Uni bombers theme song. (joke)
I like to follow this song up with Talking Heads - Blind.

Indeed I think it's just about "whatever gets you up", things like power, pleasure, pecunia, that once you've tasted it, you just want more, it's like a poison. And that everyone is able to succumb to these 'drugs'.
Also about the title, I think it's what gets Thom Yorke (or some other band member) up! Maybe they all just go crazy about Bangers and Mash!

This song is awesome live

this song seems to be referring to drinking or some other harmful addiction. he keeps repeating "ive got the poison" over and over

well, an 8 ball is an eighth of coke. its just not like radiohead to sing about drug addiction...its too easy. and as far as i know, theyre a clean band...and people who arent addicts arent likely to start singing about drug addiction.

i might be wrong but i think one part where he says pyramid is power, might be refering to the illumati symbol, the all seeing eye thing, elite government in other words, song may have something meaning along them lines
