Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland
Sally ,take my hand
Travel south crossland
Put out the fire
Don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older
Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, oh
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!

it's the first verse of baba o'reilly, a song about teenage rebellion, plus a fragment of another that he rewrote to comment on corporate rock crap.
what he meant about turning into townshend is that he didn't want to go from being part of an original and vibrant band like nirvana and the who started out as, to the crappy middle-if-the-road corporate rock peddler townshend turned into. unfortunately kurt never got the chance.
isn't this a cover of a Who song?
It doesn't have the same feel like the other Nirvana songs.. I was thinking the same thing
This song was played at least once (1991.12.07) in Europe during the 1991 winter tour. Cobain (drums) and Grohl (guitar) switched places, but Novoselic remained on bass. Grohl sang most of the song, until Novoselic performed the final verse.
its almost a cover of baba oriley by the who...no mention of a teenage wasteland though...its a good who song...havent heard this one, i think theyve tried to "modern" it up
It's a Who cover with switched lyrics.
If you guys have heard the recorded performance you could barely understand the lyrics.
funny. always nice to pay respect to the who. 2 great bands 2 great songs.
Weird because I heard Pete Tounshend bitching about Kurt when his journals were released.
i never knew Nirvana did a cover of this song! I have to hear it!
Then why bother wasting your time telling us how overrated you think they are?
nailed it!
