First Week Lyrics

Are you far away, in a new life?
Are you wearing the same dress that you wore
When we met the first night?

Are you feeling it, in a different time?
Are you telling the same jokess that you told me
When we met the first time?

The first time that we slept with the light on
And the sun’s coming up and you woke up on the floor
Everything that you feel that you can’t describe
Why can’t it be like the first week?

Am I far away in your thoughts sometimes?
Are you telling your friends that you can’t live
Without him like when we met the first time?

Do you lie awake and you wonder why
Is it always the same thing or is this just a new
Dream that’s keeping you up at night?

The first time that we slept with the light on
And the sun’s coming up and you woke up on the floor
Everything that you feel that you can’t describe
Why can’t it be like the first week?

And I’ve been up and down your street, calling your house
I won't wait up 'til you get home
I just may be better off alone

The first time that we slept with the light on
and the sun’s coming up and you woke up on the floor
Everything that you feel that you can’t describe
Why can’t it be…

The first night that we slept with the light off
And the stars shine above and all our clothes are on the floor
Everything that I feel that I can’t describe
Why can’t it be like the first week

While I think the guy is longing for what they had I think a lot of the focus is on the other person prett y much repeating the same thing over and over, without success. I can relate to dating that kind of person who is so dumbstruck by love when they find someone new that they fooloshly claim it's the most amazing person they've ever met, they can't live without them, etc. But eventually the sparkle starts to fade and when it's all said and done they pretend that the love and overwhelming feeling never really existed, and then they move onto the next person and claim they are the only person they ever felt this way about.

He wants it to be that way forever, but he realizes that she moved on to another person and is going through the same old motions without even acknowleding the love they had.

Man, I reallyyyy think you've got this one.

I can really relate to this nowadays.

this song is soo good, i love it. i've listened to it a thousand times and i still love it just as much. "Everything that you feel that you can’t describe" that's so true about the first week of everything. i love that line.

It's about a couple who isn't together anymore. The man is reminiscing about the start of their relationship, which is known as the best part.

I saw the Graham Colton Band in concert (they were really good) and he said that this song is about how the first week in a relationship is always the best because everything is new and you're learning everything about that person. Your just feeling all these awesome feelings!
