This song makes me think of a girl who lost or doesn't know her dad and she wants him to come back.

"You gotta be out there, You gotta be somewhere... Wherever you are, I'm waiting... "

She's waiting for her dad to come back and she won't forget about him.

"Cause there are these nights when, I sing myself to sleep, And I'm hoping my dreams bring you close to me... Are you listening?"

This part means that she wishes her dreams about him will come true so she doesn't have to be lonely without him. She sings herself to sleep (with songs like this one) and they cause her to (normally) dream about him.

"I used to be scared of Letting someone in... But it gets so lonely being on my own And No one to talk to And No one to hold me I'm not always strong, Oh, I need you here Are you listening? "

That verse tells me that she's pushed out the world but now she needs her dad ("Oh, I need you here, Are you listening?") She wants him to hear her plea for him to come back.

"I need someone to understand" means that she needs someone to comfort her and to know what she's going through -- no one else in her family understands her and she's hoping that her dad will.

Well, I acutally really listened to this song for the frist time..and...I'm in love with it.

I think it's like...calling out for someone to see that your finally ready to have a relationship, after being so scared of it.

The first time I heard this song was at one of her concerts and I thought I was going to cry because it was so beautiful. I think she sounds so much better live than anything else.

this song is really quite haunting - her big voice is perfectly suited to the lyrics, she really is calling out....it is amazingly sweet. i dont think its about her dad personally, i agree with B to the uzzell...being ready for a relationship after being scared for so long. i mean, who isn't guilty of that?! so pretty *

I agree with those who say that it's about looking for love. But I also think she's saying that she needs love to find her because she isn't able to find it.

This song is about when you are trying to find love..you know..you're just calling for someone to save you, coz you are so tired of being lonely, all by yourself, that u know..there's a part of your life that u know that you are ready to love, and this song..it's just a call for love.
