One more night, one more night
I've been trying ooh so long to let you know
Let you know how I feel
And if I stumble if I fall, just help me back
So I can make you see

Please give me one more night, give me one more night
One more night cos I can't wait forever
Give me just one more night, oh just one more night
Oh one more night cos I can't wait forever

I've been sitting here so long
Wasting time, just staring at the phone
And I was wondering should I call you
Then I thought maybe you're not alone

Please give me one more night, give me just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Please give me one more night, ooh just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Give me one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever

Like a river to the sea
I will always be with you
And if you sail away
I will follow you

Give me one more night, give me just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
I know there'll never be a time you'll ever feel the same
And I know it's only words
But if you change your mind you know that I'll be here
And maybe we both can learn

Give me just one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Give me just one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever

It's not about rape, it's not about break-up sex; it's the continuation of Your Ex-Lover is Dead. Hence the title containing "Your Ex-Lover Remains Dead".

Consider the meaning of "Your Ex-Lover is Dead". It's about two people who once dated a long time ago and now have re-met. These people both got into a taxi together, and the song ends with both agreeing they aren't sorry the relationship is over, however they don't part ways.

Instead, as "One More Night" shows, they decide to spend one more night together, despite being broken up ages ago. The imagery towards the end of the song even makes it sound like revenge sex, as in "Your Ex-Lover is Dead", she was hurt more than him (who doesn't even remember her name) regarding the break up, and now she's "leaving him empty", and telling him she would "wish that he'd die". While he wants it as he "drops to his knees", begging for her.

It's not rape because they both want it and they're both being hurt by it and it's not break-up sex because they're already broken up. It's the return to an old relationship for meaningless/casual sex, but it turns out to mean more than was intended.

Props for capturing the bittersweet tragedy of breakup sex.

this is one of my favorite songs. every echo, every pause, every inflection, every reverb is simply perfectly used. both parties sound so hollow but so pained. the little rockout after "you'll never touch him again" is an effective use of shock to get a reaction, musically, lyrically and emotionally.

if it's about lovers mutually scorned, breakup sex, or a one-night stand between people who have slept together/know each other - all meanings would fit, frankly - it almost doesn't matter, because the emotions at work here are so primally human. "take off that dress/you won't freeze" particularly effects me because he's trying to care but he wants her at the same time. by the end of the song, you end up sympathizing and yet not liking both people, and that's brilliant.

    love the song...

i dunno about the breakup sex and all....

anyone else feel that the singer is being bitter and sarcastic when she sings, "one more night, THAT WAS A GOOD ONE"...

like someone told her "just one more night", and then it turns out it wasn't, and she's angry at them for saying that.

amazing song first of all ! wow...anyways, my take on it is that it is about two people having sex after they have broken up. "One more night, that was a good one"- sarcastically as if they both know that when they say that, it is not the truth. "The bed is un-made, like everything is"- shows that everything is not decided upon whether or not they are dating or just having sex for the hell of it. "He starts with her back, cause thats what he sees"-meaning she has her back turned to him because she is not fully into the sex because she knows it is wrong and won't fix anything. "dark little heaven at the top of the stairs take me like that, ruin it all then build it again, by the light in the hall"- meaning that when they go into the bedroom everything is ruined because in a sense it is meaningless sex because they are not dating but he will fix everything outside of the bedroom because he will treat her well. "you'll never touch him again, so get what you can"- she sees it as a last opportunity to be with him so she will settle with just having sex with him in the hopes of getting him back

..anyways, thats what I got out of the song! Truly a beautiful song.

I think the line is actually "Bleeding him empty just because he's a man" Yea? That's what it seems like on my version anyway.

In response to the 'musical flare' question, I actually like it. It seems angry and edgy ... like he's mad that she's thinking that, but he's doing it anyway.

This song is about a girl breaking a boy's heart. and his begging her to stay at the start when he says "i'll kill who you hate" and then i think he just wants to have one more night with her cause its the best he can get. he tells her to take her dress off and they have sex, she knows she wont touch him again and they'll never be friends. for some reason she tells him to die i think thats because she regrets sleeping with him.

    My Interpretation

This song to me is all about how their relationship cannot go on any longer, but for one more night they can love each other and be together. Their is a contrast in their relationship in which they are loving and caring towards each other but it such a rough way. "He grabs her by the hair, strokes her on the cheek", "I'll kill who you hate, take off that dress you won't freeze." To me it's about closure, letting go of someone that you know you can't be with, even though you still have feelings for them.

I may be completely off but I don't think this is just about "breakup sex" but more so about the woman ending the affair she's having with this guy. The sex is good and rough (lol) in the act of adultery but she's in a relationship and is choosing that over the affair since she knows it's wrong. They have "gotta end the affair/goodbye sex" He still wants her, and possibly wants her to stay with him - hence the lines "while she's breaking his heart, she still fucks like a tease" and "you'll never touch him again, so leave while you can. Leaving him empty, just because he's a man." It's also like the guy is giving her either an option to stay or to leave and "we'll never be friends." and obviously it doesn't continue. "one more night, the end should be a good one."

I may be completely off, and it might be me saying this out of being in a similar predicament, but that's my take on it.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
