Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd cover) Lyrics

So
So you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts
Hot ashes for trees
And hot air for a cool breeze
And cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish
How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And what have we found?
The same old fear
I wish you were here

How I wish
How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And what have we found?
The same old fear
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
And how I wish you were here
I wish you were here

Do do do do do
Do do do do do
Do do do do do
Do do do do do...

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here, wish you were here
Wish you were here, wish you were here, here

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were

A great performance for a fantastic song. I believe it can be interpreted in many ways, but there's always someone we wish to be here, and that's in my opinion is the idea behind the song more than anything else.

again, i dont think its possible to cover this song and maintain its original effectivness, as it is a personal song to waters, hence making it almost blasphemous for anyone else to sing it!
